Today I got the electric fans from a Nissan sentra and am going to install them in a day or two. I was trying to figure out the best way to hook them up, and was looking for some input. I was thinking about wiring one fan so it was on all the time, and wiring the other one through the a/c power or putting a switch in the car to kick on when it's needed. What's the best way to wire the one fan so it's constantly on? If you think this is a bad idea, let me know and give me suggestions.

Tap into the relay of the low speed fan and take ign, power in, and then run power out to the secondary fan. For the ecu trigger ground it out or run it to a switch and then ground, so you can turn it of if the ign is on but car isnt. Like if you are parked listening to the radio or the likes.

Another thing is splice the ecu trigger wire and run the relay side to an on-off-on switch output. On one input ground it out, on the other run it to the ecu trigger wires ecu side. This way you can always on that one fan, have it come on with ac - overheat like normal, or turn it off. I just grounded mine out but Ill be putting this on in the future.

Oh for the second fan wire it into the stock cooling fan harness.

This will work for s14's and dohc s13's if memory serves me right...

Do you have wire diagrams and any other diagrams I would need to do this? I don't have an FSM yet, but I really need to get one. Your idea sounds like a perfect solution to my electric fan dilemna. I have the DOHC S13 by the way.

I got the sohc s13 dohc diagrams for someone else I never got around to helping :( and my fsm...

Ill take a look at it and cross it against my girls 92 hb and get back to you.

Having them on all the time is a waste of power, and motor life. My drivers side fan stays on all the time on low to blow past the header and cool at the same time. When it gets hot or the ac comes on the secondary kicks on low / high depending, like stock...

Works amazingly well this way and was free just about as I pulled a blue 4 wire relay from the yard to use.

Yeah thats what I want to run. I figured having them both on would be a waste and having them kick on when the motor got hot wouldn't be good either. Thanks a lot of looking this up for me, as I plan to do it tuesday.

I just installed the Flex-A-Lite variable speed fan controller this weekend. I seems to be working great. It has a temperature sensor for the rad, an A/C compressor input to turn the fans on when running the A/C, and external force-on and force-off inputs for those who like to twiddle switches. So far I'd reccomend it, but that is just two days of driving.
