should i buy a new lsd or go lookin in junk yards? ive been looking around and i from what ive seen in junk yards, there really isnt any 240 that looks good enough to actually take the time to remove the differential. I was just wondering what to do since i know a couple of you out there have had a 240 with an open diff and have had it switched. help is much appreciated.

SEARCH PEOPLE SEARCH. No, no factory LSD was made for any motorsport. The J30 is the car model that the diff would need to be removed from.

I like your sig, OP. Its funny to me. Wheel specs on your s13?

Here's everything you need to know about LSD's. Read it all very carefully. http://www.ka24development.com/vlsd.html

Cliffs Notes: Keep your eye out for '95-'96 Infiniti J30 diffs.

I would go with a J30 diff because it was more than likely NOT beat to s***

No that's only on the earlier J30's The later ones use 6 bolt output shafts.

But J30's are old, even though they weren't beat to deal, they are old. Usually 100K plus. If you put it in and beat on it, it's just going to go open on you sooner then later.

Save up and get a clutch type, Kaaz and Cusco and the Nismo units are cheap (not super cheap)

^^^ get a new one. VLSDs are very unfufilling and unsatisfying, specially when you gotta buy another one when you burn it up in one weekend

"There isnt any 240 that looks good enought to actually take the time to remove the differential? Hey, a clean 240 does not equal to a 240 equipped with a vlsd.

Stop comparing a new lsd to a vlsd with tones of milages to a weld diff. Its all about how much you have and how much you are willing to get one.

And the comment about no factory LSD was mad for any motorsport? You are so wrong... There are a lot of stock cars that runs clutch type and hlsd for your information, and they are pretty go for motorsport.

To the OP: what are you going to do with this car? Daily? Weekend car? Track car? Drifting? And what's your budget?

There isn't a lot of things that is about the same when one is worth like 200 when the other is at least 500+ plus installation fee.

my vlsd has lasted just fine. i run my car at the drag strip and never had it burn up. sure its not as good as a clutch type but its not THAT bad. for the price you cant beat it. well if you know where to buy them cheap at least. best 30 bucks i ever spent on my 240

mine works perfectly and has for years. i'm really anxious to see it perform with the bigger shim, but it hasn't given me any trouble yet. its from 96 180sx
