Ok I get cost on all napa parts and was wondering if the up 631 shoes would be the best for the q? Or if there is a better brand out there like raybeatos pro line or if a brand like hawk or ebc made any shoes and where to buy them from? I have the top of the line pads on the front and i still need more stoping power. the pads on the front are Adaptive One Brake Pads witch were night and day stopping power from the junk that was on the truck. Any idea's are welcome. One other thing i was thinkg is there a way to swap disc brakes on the rear from one of nissans other cars maybe?

It's been talked about before, but I haven't heard of anyone actually doing this conversion.

This thread has some information buried in it. Check it out.

I have to ask...Why do you need more stopping power? Track Days? Towing? Stop light racinq?

Your rear drums (pads) actually have a large surface area, problem is the amount of pressure and heat they can take.

A more aggressive pad will obviously wear out faster. Can you match the front and rear pad compounds? What gets you closest in the rear pad performance compared to the fronts?

If you need it for towing, you might need to invest in a trailer with its own brakes whether they are pendulum or power. If it is for track days...I guess money would be better spent on stickier tires.

none of that and the only good shoes i can find is the napa ultra's witch they might have enough stopping power and I don't like how i push on the brakes and the truck keeps going i want it the sec i push on the brakes dead stop. Maybe i need to change my fluid that might help... thanks for all the idea's and i have hankook dynapro atm's on her so she got a great tire i win't from toyo highway to these and its night and day... I'm trying to fix any problem even if its a little one and I like good brakes you never know when your going to need them to not get in a wreck. I live in Spokane WA every one here sucks in the winter for stopping they all drive to fast... thanks for your time...

there is a way to convert the drum brakes on an R50 to disks, i got his from an older thread, and the info was posted by alexf20c, im not taking credit for the info just spreading it.

quote "there are ways to get rear discs onto our R50s, but not worth it, IMO.the easiest way is to swap out the backing plate for the caliper bracket from a WD21 rear disc setup. but you gotta wonder why NISSAN did not offer discs on the Xterra, Frontier, or Pathfinder with the H233B rear end.

my pathfinder stops just fine. dare i say the people that want rear discs only want them so that they can say they have 4-wheel discs?

anyway, swapping the rear to discs is the easy part. then you'll want to swap to a larger master cylinder, and either bypass or modify the rear Load Sensing Valve.

too much work for too little gain, if you ask me." unquote

it is probably a good idea to have the brakes bled every 2-3 years. Try to keep the fluid as light as possible.

Brakes are definitely good for stopping, but your tires have just as much to do with bringing the vehicle to a stop as the brakes. But if you say your tires are better, the last thing may be just a flush and shoe change. The flush should firm up the pedal too.
