While driving the other day in a heavy rainstorm I realized it's time for new tires. Anyone have a suggestion for the best Rain tire for the QX4. of 2001?

Tirerack shows the Firestone Destination LE2 getting the best user ratings.

The LE2's definitely have great ratings. I actually called Firestone in early February when we bought our '01 to schedule having a set installed. At the time they were running a huge promo on the original LE's and I got a set of those for less than $500 installed. The ratings aren't quite -as- good but they're still a quality tire design and you may be able to save quite a bit.

I have the Michelin M+S Mud and snow tire and I love them. They are getting some bald spots after 40k miles but still have decent traction (I am very picky and do drive hard on them on the highway). I would be curious if there is a better tire than Michelin. I plan to replace my tires at the beginning of next winter (I use my QX4 as a snow mobile in the winter time to go outside in the snow).

I would also be curious if there is a better car than the QX4 in snow or rain.

I have Yokohama Geolandar AT/S and they seem to do fine in the rain. I previously had a getting-worn set of Geolandar HT/S and they were horrendous in the rain, but that may just be because they were getting bald.
