Dude you should set the rev light at a place where you see fit. I have mine set to 6200 rpm so the second I see it blink I know I have just a little bit of time before it hits its 6500 rpm redline

Redline is 6600 IIRC. That rev light is just a ghetto shift light. Has nothing to do with your redline. I believe you can set it as high as 8500 rpm.

Like gabezilla said, set it where you want to be reminded to shift. I think mine is around 6500 rpm, but my rev-up has a 7k rpm redline.

Sorry. Nifty would be customizable shift points for each gear. An annoying blinkety blink is meh.

You're right. Mine scared me when I first got the car. So did "REV". I thought it was a warning light.

While we're on the subject, may I have your engine? I'll give you mine. You won't notice the difference...

maybe it is a pain.....I have to do double the work when servicing my airfilter

....I do lower the rev light to 5,000 sometimes in an effort to save gas and to refrain from driving too fast.

You're engine produces it's peak power at 6,200.

For all of the "normal" (not RevUp, not HR) VQ35's it is.

You can also get your ECU reflashed from Technosquare or AAM or RevUp.My 04 is AAM reflashed to 7300 this way.

But i try not to use it too much.

There is a reason the factory beefed up rods etc when they raised the redline on the revup motors.

Even so, many original Z33 VQ's have been running raised redlines this way, with no discernable ill effect.
