so ive been thinking about buying a bottem end and rebuilding it... its would be a s13 redtop... and i just want to rebuild it stock... and then re build a head, but built to handle more power, im not looking for insane amount of hp.. just about 300 daliy and 350 at the track.. But i want to be able to know that my motor is doing so safely.. I would like to do this with a t28, so if you guys could give me some info... and mabey a parts list of things i should buy or need to buy for a complete rebuild that would be great.. once again this is more for the bottom end for now, so any help with that would be great thanx again...

I recently just went through this......

Darton Sleeves=$365Weisco Pistons$425Eagle Rods=$350bearings=$120Gaskets=$125

Labor on machine work=$450-$600

The look on honda boys face when your 240 kills him.....priceless

The way I see it is if your going to do it...do it right and not twice

Make sure and replace the front and rear mains they are cheap and you may aswell do it while you are doing the rebuild, also new thrust washer for the crank! Replace the o-ring on the oil pickup. I would replace the oil pump and water pump if you have the money. Also if you want 350hp your going to need more than a t28!

If you want to just to a stock rebuild:

Engine gasket set (has pretty much everything, I'd upgrade to a metal headgasket though)New piston ringscrank bearingsGet all the cylinder walls honedupgrade to an S14 Chain tensionerNew water and oil pump if you want to be super sure everything is perfect.

i'm thinking about doing a stock rebuild right now as well and was wondering...can most any machine shop work on our block? i figure they can because the specs are the same as the fwd sr20 right? also, is it usally a good idea to replace the pistons and rods?
