bored internals or higher compression forged piston can get you lots of HP without going turbo too. also lighter weight flywheel, rims or bodypanels can give you a better power to weight ratio.you can try nitrous or meth injection too.

Seems like meth injections not an option since people say u need turbo for that. Do I need to be a pro to use the bullydog tuner and is there any provin gains?

No, the Bullydogy is very simple and has good instructions. And yes, you can feel and even hear the difference. It makes the car sound more rich and aggressive while giving a lot more power into the mid-high range. Could a better tuner come out that might be able to squeeze out more HP? Sure, but who knows when that will happen. Stillen is supposedly working on one.

So is there any proven hp gains from the tuner?

I think I have just about every performance/power mod available for the 3.5 CVT that's made by a manufacturer for our cars (everything you have plus the Bullydog) and I haven't been able to find much of anything else that I can upgrade at this point in time. I'm really, really curious to see how much power all these mods have made, but being a CVT, dyno isn't really effective. I'd like to think all these mods have me easily over 300hp, and even higher.. but who knows.

And, I don't think there have been any "proven" gains from the Bullydog yet because no one has dynoed their car before and after, but (and some people will dismiss this as not being proof), you can definitely feel a difference. You can enable it and disable it, and there's an obvious difference. There's a very long thread about the Bullydog tuner in the Engine/Performance category, if you have 10 hours to waste

your next step in performance gain is simple, stickers. Best bang for your buck too! At 1$/ 20HP who needs other mods?

Nico sticker = 25WHPNismo sticker = 50WHPVTEC sticker= ......TURBO sticker = 100 WHP

Turbo sticker probably will cost you $10 or so, so budget wisely!

Honestly, if you think the BD Tuner looks hard to install, Turbo is not for you. I'm not trying to put you down, that's not my point, my point is you have to constantly check/fix things. Not so much with a kit, but even with a kit some things can fail and render your car useless until it's fixed.

If you are not mechanically inclined or have a shop do all of your mods, stick to the plug and play mods that you already have.

Again, I do not know you nor know your level of mechanics, but if you are planning to go turbo make sure you read and UNDERSTAND everything that goes into it. It's not a matter of just putting the turbo in, it's piping, oil lines, tuning, etc.

technically, all of your mods voided your warranty. although if the dealership tries to tell you they won't fix your car because of your aftermarket parts, tell them to go read up on the magnussen-moss act of 1975. they can't deny coverage just because an aftermarket part is on there, they have to prove that the failure or break or whatever was a direct result of the aftermarket part. and I guarantee you, if you screw up your ECU you can for sure kiss your warranty goodbye.

on THAT part and any affected by it. like if you change your tire size to something more than 3% different and you get steering column knock when you hit bumps, its all your fault and you'll have to pay for it. stupid warranty lol

Bullydog has been around for a while and has made tuners for dozens of vehicles, so they obviously know what they're doing. No matter, though, if something would go wrong with the install, you could be SOL. But.. quite a few people on here have gotten it and none have reported any installations that messed up the ECU.

The differences I can feel are mainly in acceleration. The car definitely pulls harder with it. Here's a thread about it:

It's incredibly long though (that's what she said), so you may just want to skip towards the end and read from there, since that's mainly after people have installed it and are giving their thoughts about it.

The PowerPup dumps your ECU to Flash and then you can go ahead with tuning. A tip to be extra careful is to do the following:

1. Update your power pup before plugging it into the car.2. One a dump is made of your ECU to your power pup, plug it into your computer and do a backup of the power pup. This saves the dump of your ECU to your PC.3. Go ahead and make changes. It actually does work, quite well.
