Im gonna do a stock ca18 swap, but I was wondering what needs to be done to the ca18 for it to keep up with a stock sr20? I know based its like a quoted 30 or so hp difference...

a boost controller and 10psi will probably put you right there with a completely stock sr... don't chose your motor over a difference in stock power as we all know that you won't keep it stock.

10psi, thats it? hmm...Whats the boost limit on a ca18 with stock internals?

Choose your own adventure:

1) SEARCH! This topic has been rehashed more than once.

2) 15 PSI before you'd be wise to move to a better turbo.

3) Its my understanding that the head gasket becomes suspect after 300-320hp, but others may disagree on this one.

4) Its really a matter of tuning, within reason.

I would not suggest 15psi on the CA T25. The SR T25 may be barely able to handle that and not be a complete heat pump, but the CA one probabaly will not.

neither would stock CA intercooler piping or intercooler. say bye bye to your head gasket, and from my understanding, you'd be over loading your injectors and/or fuel pump

I ran a buddy of mine w/ Greddy FMIC, Greddy 3" dp and test pipe, URAS SS 3" catback, Profec-b on the highway. I had him with 9psi and no exhaust on a T25G (SR T25) and stock everything else. I won with him on low (7psi) boost.

My bad, I was indeed confusing the CA T25's limits with the SR's.

I suppose to answer your question directly insofar as I know no one has made a point of pushing the CA18 stock internals to their absolute limits, a la Enjuku's SR or something similar. Everyone I've met here who is going for big numbers has gone ahead and built a bulletproof bottom end to support it.

Maybe we CA18 owners are just smarter, or maybe we don't have the spare cash to get into a pissing contest over how many horses we can stack on the head of a pin. Hard to say.

It was mostly a curiousity question, as I was thinking that the ca couldnt be THAT much behind a sr20.

Im trying to learn of what to do to slgithly rebuild/replace my engine too. I need to make a list of ALL the things that should be replaced.

head gasketturbo gasketsmanifold gasketwater pumpthermostatspark plugs and wireso2 sensor

...and after that its a blank

In addition to what you listed:

timing beltpcv valvetensioner pulleyidler pulleyheadbolts/washerscon rod boltscon rod nutsrod bearingsmost engine gaskets (valve cover, oil, etc...)valve oil sealspiston rings

I wouldn't touch the rings or valve seals unless you suspect a problem, nor the bearings without an inspection to verify they need it.
