Heres my problem

Im considering the purchase of a 240SX s13, with a motor swap in mind. Right now i have found a list of what i would need to reach a 12.88 in a 240sx with a SR20DET redtop. I would kind of like to go CA18DET power, but I am still very unclear of what numbers with what mods this motor will turn. Also are there any sites simmilar to http://www.sr20detperformance.com/ that are avaliable for the CA18DET? To me the aftermarket seems slim if you dont read japanease.

it will take money and google :)

seriuosly why 12.88 you understand that all cars are different and engines are different, the same set up may work differently on seperate engines.

I think you should use the search button, or go through the pages of the forum, this topic has been covered numerous times in the past.

not as far as page 26 , found info on page 2

What to buy with $6000

Quote »$6000 here's what i'll do

Forged Pistons - $500 (can be found lower)Forged Rods - $700 (can be found lower)Greddy Emanage - $600 (software online FREE & it can be found cheaper)Metal Head Gasket - $200Greddy V-Spec 24 Intercooler Kit - $750RC 550 Injectors - $360Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust - $5003" Down pipe & Test pipe (cat optional) - $210FP BIGT28 turbo - $750Walbro Fuel Pump - $120HKS SS Blow Off - $250Spec Stage 3 clutch Kit ~$300

thats a total of $5095

that is a potent combo to TOTALLY reliable 350WHP, you have an extra $1000 to buy all the odds and ends like turbo timer guages water pump, gaskets etc etc....

*OR you can scrap the Pistons and Rods and get a LSD and some Tomei cams a little more conservative but if you are not chasing those big numbers you can get away with stock internals.

good luck...

[/quote]this combo i posted was for a budget, reliable 350whp CA, an LSD should be added to this....

I do not usually answer people with smart arse commnets, but this toppic has been covered soooooooo manytimes in different post, searching for et's, 12sec and other search key words may not yeild the results you want but the posts are out there, just got to read the ones that have been answered allot and deal with the more tech or build related topics..

its justa pain to post the same info over and over, or having to search for it somewhere on the forum for someone else....

sorry if i seemed a bit harsh...

prices are relative these days, pistons and rods are becomming more available, cams are starting to be imported and stocked, gaskets and service parts are the same as the 1.8 CA Pulsar so can be bought online or at the local service parts store...

there are numerous posts about which is better CA or SR, i think both are fantastic engines and want to own a car with each... but i'll be keeping the SR stock and whipping the shizzle out of the CA because of its stron block, its rev ability and it was sold locally in more abundance so spare engines and parts are cheap.

Yes that great it says 350 HP but nowhere does it say what times 350hp is going to get me, if i wanted HP numbers i would of asked for it in the topic title. :rolleyes

geeze louise, 350 with a good set up suspension, LSD, slicks, and a well tuned engine will give you high 12's if you can get out of the hole good and get good 60"...

it also depends if you are a good driver.

and if you want to do 12's why not go and get a 150hp shoit of nitrous and go spray the hell out the motor...

well i guess you answer is:

you will need 350+ HP motor (built however you wish, suggestions are quoted and linked to above), LSD, slicks, good driving techniqie & lots and lots of practice.

you want someone to actually compose a list of points for you form the various posts??? list different parts combos and discibe how to launch the car, tire pressures & size & brand, suspension setups, weight reduction tips, chassis prep, clutch combo and final drive ratios???

c'mon man, that would be too easy :)... i say start by searching all of NICO for 12 sec 240's and see what combos they are suing, check fresh alloy forums and see what the SR boys are doing, its all going to be the same sort of turbo, lsd forged internals combos,

all cars are different, i drove my buddies 450+hp SR S14 and couldnt do better than low 13's on the gtech cause i didnt know how to launch the car and was spinning tires on the launch, and 1-2 & 2-3 gear shifts, but he runs 11's with the same car, same settings, perfect..

its about the power to weight ratio, tire suspension combo and a hell allot of driver skill and practice.
