Ever replace your timing chain guides per the article in the sticky at the head of this Forum's page?

If you towed your car with your rear wheels on the road, your transmission is most likely toast also.

Any good shop can replace the guides - in the $1000 range.

A replacement engine isn't any cheaper, because you'd still need to replace those guides, added to the cost of installation. And a 94-95 motor with the metal guides has different fuel rails, different harnesses - a pain to do.

You have to get it to a shop for diagnosis, or do it yourself. Manually turn the crank to see if it still rotates freely. Then a compression test. That should tell you if this motor is toast or not.

Step 1 is determining what is actually wrong with the car. Please be more descriptive. Where under the hood, what kind of noise, grinding, whining, crunching, etc... Was the vehicle towed with the rear wheels on the ground? If so for how long? The towing will probably have nothing to do with the noise but towing Q45's with the hiny's on the ground is a major no-no. Says right in the owners manual nobody reads. There are many things that can cause the same exact problems so descriptiveness will go a very long way in helping us help you.

This sounds like a problem I had on my 94' Q. A massive leak in one of the injector o-rings caused the engine to burn through a huge amount of fuel. In trying to restart the car there was a nasty grinding sound. I later discovered that the starter drive was totally stripped out. It appears that the problem was not so much hydro-locking as it was the starter having no tolerance for back-firing caused by excessively rich mixture. This happened twice on different occasions. My conclusion is that at the first sign of flooding to pull the fuel pump fuse to blow out the excess. If the problem is hydro-locking, then the safe solution is to pull the plugs and blow out extra fuel. You might note in doing this which cylinder is spitting out the fuel. That is the one(or more than one) where the leak is.

You don't need to double post by starting a new thread with the same post!

You do need to post your recent maintenance history and a summary of all you have done to restore your car.
