Well there will always be m drivers and owners out there. Whether they will mod the cars or not depends on performance parts. The lack thereof is likely why you're seeing a decline in this forum. The slow decline of the economy, high prices at the pump and in general the popularity of smaller more green vehicles is likely a major factor. Personally I will not be buying another M or as large a car after this one dies for those reasons plus my wife and I decided to travel instead of have children so no need to haul around so much metal for just the two of us.

The majority of the owners here were 06-08 and a decent handful of 09 people. Part of it is also that some of the cars from those years are now moving on to 7 years old. For some it is just time to move on to something more new with less miles. The new body style M's have not been very popular compared to other brands and there is also an extreme lack of performance parts available for them.

The car is getting old.
The M might have been a leader in its class back in 2005, but cars now are getting better power, fuel efficiency, and amenities.

All good points above. I have seen some new people (I guess I consider myself new) that pop up here and there. I will say: I get into cars that are fairly new or brand new, and have less options than my 06 M45. You would think that after 7 years, ALL cars would have options that my car has but no. Although my car is old, it still keeps up with the new crowd! Fuel efficiency is not a factor to me because I find driving pleasurable and I would give up fuel economy Vs. getting a car that I would hate to drive. I wont be selling my car anytime soon. Very happy with it.

My car is a "Lady on the streets but a freak in the sheets!", why would you give that up?

I have 127,000 miles on mine. I'm keeping it as long as I can. I have an 06. It's the best car I ever had. I've had a lot of work done to it because of an accident. $16K worth of damage. That was 3 years ago, and I still love it.

I'm happy with the M. Wanted something sportier so I picked-up a low miles G35 coupe 6mt. But the M is my daily driver. After a long day at work and all the BS that goes with it the drive home in the M makes all better.

I have my "m" for now, I am going to upgrade to the 2014 Q50s Hybrid.I will switch up in 6-8 months.I love the car (the "m")before I bought it rented it 5 times from hertz( 3 times the exact same one). My Lady has a murano so we will use that the family hauler.I just want to go smaller,I recently went to get my "m" serviced(@ray catena Infiniti-Edison Nj) and I was given a 2012 G37X loaner Wow,That car flat out flies,The Q50s is alittle lower, bigger(but still smaller than current "m")& faster..also my current "m" is 303 hp,The loaner "g" was 330hp and the Hybrid q50s is 350hp and gives 35 mpg highway..+ 2 eight inch monitors in dash(Newer Technology).I also noticed since the car is more affordable more of them are in my area.. Those are my reasons for change.

JMichael, you are only 18 (and that is not meant as a put-down in any way, shape or form). One of the things you will come to realize as you get older, if you haven't already, is that the only constant in life is change.

We are all enthusiasts, whether we enjoy tinkering with and modifying our cars or just love driving a beautiful, well-equipped, high-performance car. Eventually the time comes when we want to move on to something new. I am still at least a year or two away from replacing my 2008 M45X. I do not know what I will buy at that point. It might be a Q70 or a Q50, or even something completely different ... too early to tell yet. I am really happy with my M and will be sorry to see it go when the time comes. It will certainly always be one of my favourite cars.

Yes, several guys are leaving, including some who have been on here for many years. But now it is time for them to try something different, or they have done all the mods that they want (or can) do and will be less active. That is sad, :frown: but it is unfortunately a part of life. I wish all of them the very best and thank them for their help and contributions!

Nice car, by the way! :bigthumb:

Also the 2011-2012 are more affordable now.Alot of guys buy their "m" CPO.My "m" is 09 with every option other than the rear entertainment. The 2014 Q50 Technology blows my "m" out the water when its comes to Tech. There is a 5 year difference so this expected.I love my "m" But I also pay 225+ dollars a month in Gas :tisk:,+140 dollars in ezpass(Toll) In a given month my car expenses total over 1000.00 :spitout:
when i upgrade everything + move. my car expenses drop to below 650 :chuckle: .saving almost 4k annually.
I am moving from NYC to Nj to cut back cost of everything:
in Newjersey the area I am moving to
Pros
1)Tolls( cheaper)
2) Gas (cheaper)
3) car insurance (cheaper)
4) when i park my car i don't have to worry about battering ram parkers  .
cons
1) I travel an extra 35-40 mins to work .

I will definitely miss my "m" when the that day comes in the upcoming months but we all gotta move on in life.

If the price is right I would sell but I'm not a fan of the new Infiniti's

I would like to get a used Lexus LS460L in the future when prices come down.

I am also happy with my M and will definetly keep it . Yes, ofcourse its getting old and there is newer and better out there and will be in another years to come but I am realistic, the resale price of these cars is horrible !!! Therefore the car has more value to me owning it than selling/trading. I bought my 08 in march of 09 with only 8k miles on it,now she has 61K .Time doesnt fly the same for everyone, me having two toddlers , constantly working , always busy with work kids etc. I didnt enjoy the M to the fullest yet.To somebody 5 year old car is already too old
while I still remember the day I bought the car like it was yesterday and boom , my kids are getting bigger and car is getting older! Anyways I am not a fan of newer infinitis nor any other model besides the Y50 so as of now I would not consider buying another infiniti product! They did it right with y50s thats about it. Some cars will always have that unique look no matter how much time goes by.

i just did a whole bunch of maintenance to the car - unless something really bad happen then i will still have my car for at least another 3 years.

the only gripe is the happy revving 5spds this car has - if it was a 7 speeds, i will drive until it dies. then i resurrect and drive it some more :)

As for the forum 'dying out'. I think it's like most thingts - it will be popular and busy for a time and then not so much for a time. This is summer and most of you lot live where that only lasts a couple months so I imagine most are busy with kids out of school, or perhaps gone away on their summer holidays, etc.

As for my M (I call it the 'black beast'): I, like others on here, have not taken to the newer, wavy, graceful, blah body style. Seems Infiniti has moved off the aggressive, sporty independent stance and followed the heard into the already crowded group of sedans that look alike regardless of brand or price. The new "Q' trys to look unique, but that only works if you've never seen a Lexus.
Therefore, if my M ever has to be <gulp> discarded, I will definitely NOT buy a new M, Q, T, D, Z, whichever letter they are using at that time unless they go back to making them look powerful and aggresive again.
If I had to make a change right now, I would consider the new Maxima or Lexus 460L. Although the Maxima has been wave-infected like the M, it is less wavy and still retains an aggressive stance. Thew Lexus 460 is closer to a blah style, but still has a powerful appearance and no where near as frumpy as the newer Ms. Before you scream at me, that is just my opinion, and judging from the plethera of wavy M's I see every day, I admit I am in the minority.

Well, I hope this forum doesn't begin to die off. I just purchased a M45 over the weekend and plan to invest a lot of time an money making it my own. My wife finally was able to part with her heavily modified Altima Coupe in preparation of starting a family. I see loads of potential in this platform and I could care less about new "features" that just add weight and dumb down the driving experience. I guess this was my long winded introductory post and if this forum still exists, I will definitely be her for a at least the next decade.

To add my 2 cents to this post, I think there are several reasons Infiniti is losing ground. First let me say I love my 2004 M45 but it is a rare bird. I intend to keep it for awhile. It has been trouble free but just does not have that WOW factor as few seem to know what it is. One of the many factors taking Infiniti down in my OP is they have not offered a car in the BMW, Mercedes category. Another one is they don't have a flagship car and the Q whatever is not going to do it. They also market to the I want a "fast" car guys that like Ninja bikes and don't offer many, if any alternatives. They are overpriced and use cheap materials on the inside. In addition they have some major mechanical issues with the more recent models as per the many posts related to those issues. Then we have Lexus coming up and hitting some major homeruns.

Overall, I think Infiniti has lost its market and other car companies have stepped up and filled the gap. Sad to say, but in my OP if Infiniti wants to stay in the game they need to change their marketing strategy and over a flagship car. I almost bought a 1999 Lincoln that was in pristine condition. Yes, I am an old fart guy who paid my dues and I want a big fat luxury ride. No hybrids need to apply. So far Infiniti is offering me nothing. Just my OP.

You are right Double E. I am not giving up on my 2004 M45. Its been one of the best cars I've owned and it is a BIG TIME sleeper. If we have to close the doors maybe ours will become classics.

I go through cars about every couple years on average... there's a reason why I'm on my 3rd M.
The 45 sport with aero kit has just about everything I would want in a car. There will always be newer and better, but this one should last me a while.

OK, I know you weren't looking for a review of your M45, BUT ... I have to admit I actually had to google your model because I had no clue what the 2004 looked like. I must say, it is brilliant! The way the grille and headlamps maintain an even width and height across the front end, the sleek, straight body sides, and slope of the rear end matching the slope of the roofline, just the right amount of chrome trim to accent - they all make it look powerful and posh at the same time. The design of the body and the dash doesn't look 'dated' in any way - even after 10 years. In my opinion, you sir, already have a classic on your hands.

Back to topic:
This site is NOT dying and I don't now where anyone got the idea that "everyone is selling their Ms". I'm sure there have been slow times before and this 'pause' will soon enough end.
