I personally am getting very close on my setup. Finally got my fuel switch worked out, The Megasquirt system finished except the launch control. Almost done on the new Water intercooler Conversion. I been street testing it. I need a Bigger water pump to keep up on the intercooler. My intake temps want to rise around 120degree's after a Hard pass. I should be going to the dyno in 2 weeks to Final tune it after I get a few good street tunes on 21psi. I should be able to blow the 6's easy on the new setup. I hope to get a couple track passes in 3 or 4 weeks. I have not got to get any so far this yr.

Gonna spend the winter refreshing my motor but for now I'm gonna keep it driveable while I work on a custom roll cage and Chassis Tuning.

You gonna use stock axles?

yeah for this year. i mean im probably going to go to the track once before it gets cold and then again next spring. i may try to cop some extra axles just in case but before next year ill probably get some z32 axles. rb25dragsaid that he got like 17 or so passes out of the stock ones so i might just try my luck.

SOunds like everyone is like me and a little slow getting to the track this yr. I made So many MAJOR changes over this past winter it has taken me all summer to get the setup 100% before I go to the track.

I been workin on tuning mine all week. I have a studder problem at 6800rpm that I cant seem to get out. Im not sure exactly whats up. I have done about everything tuning wise possible. I added Timing and also took timing out with same results. I have added fuel with no change. I have Changed my spark dwell with no results and I have changed plugs. Im kinda stuck lol. Im only running 14psi at the moment also.

But yeah as long as you dont launch over 5800rpm on et streets your axles should be fine. I bought a new set of axles from Napa last yr for mine and I have prob 20-25 passes on the with no breaks. Thats going 1.6-1.7 60's.

Any time I tried launching above 5800 I killed an axle.

GODCHSR What kind of cage are you building?

I been looking into the Godspeed cages for mine and just adding my own touch to the finish of it.

That will be an OVER the winter project for me again. Along with going to the 8.8 ford rear end.

Im going to try and SEE how far I can take these new stock axles before breaking them. Im going to try and make a few 6 sec 1/8th mile passes on them.

for me its been hurry up and wait on the bearings for my q45 rear. now the hard part is just gettin the right shims for the xterra 4.64 ring and pinion to fit with the diff. got the hubs in just waiting for the rest to put it back together and cut some good 60's. after i get that done i will slowly start spraying the nitrous to see where i can end up.

I have looked at the Godspeed cages and it's very tempting.

On the other hand I can buy all that length of tubing here in town for a couple hundred and weld it myself. I have a great welder (Hobart) and really enjoy attempting to build custom things. I did a little bit of cage work on my Wrangler before I sold it so i don't think this will be 'much' different.

Well I guess I'll chime in here.....

Right now, I have a s13 coupe with a stock s13 blacktop sr20 det motor... I have a peakboost top mount mani, 35r, ect... all getting ready to go on.. I'm waiting for my supertech springs, retainers, seats, and tomei 270 cams to arrive.. Been searching around for a 180sx vsld w/ 4.3xx gears, because im planning on running a 255/50/16 tire and dont want to be trapping in 3rd gear lol Other than that, its just getting everything together and seeing how much the stock bottom end will hold

since im sure you will be reving pretty high with that setup you would probably benefit from the xterra 4.64 ring and pinion swap instead of the 4.36

i think i paid $100 for my xterra ring and pinion and then you would have more options becuase it will work with any r200 rear. just an idea. i see about 3100 rpm's at 70-72mph on the highway but it madea big difference in acceleration. just make sure you get a 51:11 ratio not 55:11(4.9x)

The 4.64 is a 'bolt in mod' on the R200 diff?

yea i had mine installed in my stock rear and it worked fine just switch all the spacers and everything from your 4.08 to your 4.64. now with it going into the q45 rear (sick of breaking stock axles) it has been a little more involved as i needed a tiny bit thicker shim but now that it's in spec it is fine. i love mine probably one of the best mods i ever did, you just row through the gears now

I was looking for a Q45 diff right now too but I didn't want the gearing but if the 4.56 R&P is swappable I might just have the 4x4 shop do the work for me.(I'm connected in the local Jeep scene)

That's good info!

yea it been a slight pain in the a** sourceing all the bearings, which are NOT needed but i figured i might as well put all new ones in why im at it. the other part like i said is just getting the right backlash and pinion height by using different shims and such. the difference in axle size is very comforting, after breaking three axles i was ready to give up. now with my mazworx trans and q45 rear i should be all set

Not sure if you guys are turbo cars or not. But if you are that low of a gear is going to hurt you more than it will help.

I hate the 4.08 final with the Rb motor.

I cannot get a load on the motor in 1st gear. I can only get about 11psi of boost before I gotta shift. My buddy Picked up 4 tenths at the track in his turbo mustang when he went from a 3.73 to a 3.23 final.

Turbo motors like a higher gear so it puts more of a load on it and It can make its peak power quicker and for longer periods.

When I swap to the 8.8 ford Im going with a 3.56 final when Im done.

i know the guys from hybridynamics in pittsburgh were running a big turbo and 4.64 gears but they were revving really high as well. i think they went low 10's if not better in that car. as for me im just on a s15 t28 which i get quicker acceleration and still build enough boost in first gear. the one run i did get i went through the traps at 6800 in fourth i think.

Interesting...... Anyone know where I could find the gear ratios of a blacktop s13 sr trans? I wanna look into this some more and figure out which final drive would benefit me the most

Well I decided to take the car to the track today. After I got there I noticed something sticking out of my front passenger tire on the inside. I crawled under it and looked and the whole side was about to come out of the tire. I really didnt know it was that bad. Which sucked cause I had already made the trip. So I unload it and decided to take it for 1 pass.

I borrowed some m/t et streets 26x10.5'sI ran a little too much tire pressure (14psi) I normally run around 10-12 But since its a new suspension with 0 runs on it, New turbo( Didn't know how it was going to launch) and a completly different fuel system I decided to be conservative.

So I launched it pretty easy, Pedaling it around 4500 it spun out of the whole pretty bad so I let out and Bogged it and got back in it by the 300ft It picked up and hooked. Went 8.54@ 90mph.

Pretty sucky pass with a 2.4 60ft (The worst 60' I have had) So I have some work to do.

I didnt wanna risk blowing my tire so I loaded it up and went home.

I guess for the 1st time back out this year on an entire new setup it ran alright. But I gotta get the Launch control working and also work on the launches. I was only on 12lbs of boost so I still have alot more power to make. Hopefully I can get o they dyno this week and get some tuning timeIm still on my throwed together street tune lol!

Rod bearings let go in my turd back in April. Just picked up a 2000 LS1 shortblock, some 243 (LS6) heads, MLS headgaskets,ATI balancer, new Cam, new Lifters, and a Katech blueprinted LS6 oil pump. Still need a nice intake and throttle body and going to buy some new wheels and maybe seats before next season. Looks like no passes will be made this year.
