1. A rwd well maintened car,fluids, filters,
2. Practice
3. Practice
4. Cheap tires
5. Practice
You don't need 300hp to drift or a lsd. crawl before u walk, don't jump on any bodys wagon,u want to drift find an
empty lot. With good pavement, place a plastic cup 100-200 yrds in front of u and practice heel toe,or e break(weak btw) drifts/slides, up to the cup then around the cup nothing fancy just learn your car and learn how to react to what it does,or listen to fanboys that, don't drift have never driftedand never will

At least these facts are true about Pro drifting in the US these days.

The same holds true for most forms of motor sports in any country, drifting and the US are not special in this regard.

Also, how do you think that their car gets replaced/repaired when it gets destroyed? Do you think they just pull a shiny new one out of their a**? That is how a sponsorship works, you promote(whore) their product and they give you money to replace/repair/upgrade so you can keep being competitive/winning and making their product look good. The better you are and the better you promote their s***, the more money you get and the better they take care of you.

Instead of sponsors and stuff. What about aftermarket parts. If you could buy 5 items for your 240 what would it be!

well... ok.. time for an 'Internets are serious business" answer.

1. Replace all fluids, filters, and gaskets you can. Refresh everything you can to near factory levels.

2. Tires, cheap are fine for learning on, spare wheels can help here, if you use the car as a DD you don't want toast your only rubber.

3. Advil/Excendrin/Tynlenol/Asprin Anyone who has put an open diff car sideways should know why.... OR! a decent helmet. (when you finish a drift in an open diff car the power switches to the other wheel and you bounce your head off the pillar/window. Either way, painful.

4. Seat time

5. Seat time

6. Seat time

7. seat time.

And now, the list you want, but not really the correct one:

1. Refresh motor, decent tires.

2. adjustable suspension links to get more neg camber.

3. LSD, vlsd or 2way, even welded if you are brave.

4. Coils, tighen up the suspension and reduce body roll

5. any power adders.

Of course it is:

1) drift knob / button for e-brake
2) huge rear wing for downforce
3) Wilwood Brakes
4) Drift tie rod ends for extra angle
5) Stripped interior & Carbon Fiber everything left for massive weight reduction

Can't drift without those things! J/K

Here you go, because I am a nice guy...

1. Coilovers (Spring/Strut for budget)
2. Tires (Used rear tires for budget)
3. LSD (OEM VLSD for budget)
4. A Helmet
5. An Oil Change

There you go, have fun.

1. Gangsta aero booty kit with tons of zip ties
2. A roll cage worth more than the car
3. Only brand name equipment
4. 2000 + dollar coilovers because nothing else is good enough
5. A s*** ton of Jdm option and parts company stickers (from all the brand name equipment you've been buying) awkwardly placed around ur car

Or u could not be a fanboy and just learn on a near stock 240 like the rest of us with lots of practice and patience so that way when you do actually get s*** like 2way and coilovers it's improving on the fundementals u already know

Sorry if this comes across rather jackass-y but it's the truth there are those out there who will lead you to believe that there u have to have a modified car to drift which is not true. They led me to believe this at first and I realized it could be done with a stock 240 and then it was just practice and more practice and once I started breaking stuff then I started upgrading

Best advice I can give you is save ur money for gas, tires, and repairs. Go out and find a nice large open space like an industrial park or parking lot that is off the beaten path so u don't have to deal with cops

Oh well in that case I would say the right wheels for the job (wide, good offset, and sturdy over flashy and "cool"), a 2 way (they can be expensive so if u got a buddy with a shop just have em weld it), and coilovers if you can afford em, and then you got sway bars, control arms, tie rods & ends, and other suspension components
