You need to start researching the VQ swaps. It's the future of the 240, IMO. The price range can go from dirt cheap to pretty pricey because there are so many possible routes you could take...

Right now, I'm most in love with the VQ30DET, the only turbo'd VQ Nissan made. Everything about that motor just makes perfect sense to me right now, but I'm still learning about it though.

something like that dude whos throwing the lincoln motor in? thats badass, and im sure you could find a running one fairly cheap. i dont know how much cash he has in that. Im sure that you could do a similar project with a 6 cyl on the cheap if you have fab skills. deffinitly take a look at that thread if you havent yet

How bout the little brother to the LS1?

98+ 3800 Series II Supercharged Engine.

I had a GTP that I got to run a 12.8 @ 106 with just about $1500 extra in goodies in a 3400 lb car...

Just slap the 3800 onto a RWD transmission such as what comes in the V6 camaros and ur made!

Ive actually thought about the idea of doiung it in my next 240...

VQ30det or a VG30det is what i would do.If you gave us your "budget" then it would help out a lot.

I think this site proves that, with enough fab work, you can fit just about anything in the engine bay of a 240sx. If an LS1 can fit, why not throw a Chevy V-6 in? Just a thought. Anything rear wheel drive with enough patience and money will work. Hell, put in a FWD engine/transmission, I would definitely read a thread on that.. kinda like freak show interesting.

Good luck, do what you want, not what the forum dictates.

yeah but if money is the issue, then an unusual swap that will take more fabrication and parts is not a good idea.

But depending on where you are, you can pick up a used engine/transmission from lets say a 6cyl. Camaro, for the very believable price of $100-200 (I've been GIVEN 2 Chevy 305's in my life) that starts you out at about $1800 less then an average sr swap. I may be wrong on the sr price but regardless, its a pretty big difference, and you can do a LOT of fab work for that size chuck of change.

Get an RB20, cheaper than a redtop and is better IMO.

yeah but til you freshen it up at the very least and then get it in you'll have more then an sr swap i'm sure. sr's are incredibly easy to swap in, and everything may soudn simple on paper, but til you start getting a camaro v6 in there (or any oddball v6) you'll have more of a headache then you realize. even swapping a carbed 350 in my brothers 91 camaro was a pain in certain aspects. and with the camaro v6, you're donig all that work to barely be faster then a stock ka. my vote is to keep the ka btw, or is something wrong with it.

i've always wondered how an rb20 feels, how is it better then an sr?

What body car do you have. Depending on what engine you already have, you may just want to turbocharge the stock engine, thats more of a budget build then a v6 swap IMO.

ah forgot about the supercharged 3800 but those still aren't that cheap to come by probably $800-1000 for engine and trans then all the fab work to make it mount up...I'd probably go RB20 for about the same amount of money and at least it pretty much drops in.

what about a VG30E with the VG33E supercharger?

port n polish the heads and the supercharger, different pulley. should make decent power for dirt cheap.

all of your posts are in this thread, and you cant spell MOTOR correctly.....

a v6 is not the way to go for the OP if he is on a budget build, keep the ka, or grab one out of a junk yard for $200, freshen it up, and piece together a turbo kit, about $1500.... there $2000 and you got a 230hp 4 cylinder that will last as long as its tuned well

sbc v8 if you want real power, hell small block chevy motors are way to cheap to not look into, you can put a 5.3 v8 into a 240 for the cost of an sr if you can do any fab work at all.
