Just picked up a sr20 redtop front clip, and was going through it and changing replacement parts.

Decided to change oil, replace oil pickup and hammer out dent in oil pan.

Once I drained oil it initially looked good, until I popped off the pan:

The warning sign was when we attempted to crank it to get a compression test, starter was not cranking just clicking. Importer said most likely starter is frozen. More like the engine seized from imploding on itself.

Damn,I hope you go it from a reputable seller. If not your butts really gonna hurt eating that one. This is a prime example of why kat seems the better alternative to me.

Wow that really sucks, where did you get the front clip from? Theres usually a 60 day warranty with most places, I wouldn't buy a front clip without a warranty.

Just an FYI Elite JDM in Philly checks all their stuff out and only imports top notch stuff. The owner Nick flies over and picks the stuff out, test it, ships it to Philly, no junk stuff in their shop.

Clip came from Japan Star in Albany, NY.

They told me a 30day start up on the clip, so they better own up to it.

I will be contacting them first thing this morning.

Jdm elite was my second choice to go to, but they did not have any front clips to sell.

Really I live 3 miles from them and they always have at least like 15-20 S-Chassis SR clips. Well good luck with it. Can I ask how you paid for it? Because you can dispute the charges if it's paypal or credit card.

They had several SR swaps there, but this was there only clip. Hmm wonder why?

Other sources told me they had clean motors, which is why I went with Japan Star.

I was able to talk to them today, and they said just bring the engine back and they will exchange it. So hopefully it will not have to come to disputing charges.

i went with jarco. very good service. got a 180sx and soarer front clip from them at the same time. i asked and the guy even threw in the driveshaft and rear axle for free.

hopefully they own up to it. i think most people offer warrenties because they know most people wont go through the hasstle of returning things. as for 30-60 warrenties on motors, most regular people probly dont have them installed by that time to even find a problem. sucks but thats the nature of the beast when it comes to importing motors.

hope everything turns out in ur favor mangood luck
