GT,I am about to sell my 91 240SX. The 89-90's were SOHC engines. I prefer S13's but S14's seem to have more options. I don’t think you will go wrong.

Try posting in the general forum of the S13 (89-94 240SX), I'm sure you would find some answers there. In my opinion, a 91+ would be good!

What year depends more on what you're willing to spend. S-13's are obviously going to be cheaper because of their age. But there isn't much difference in performance/reliability between the SOHC and DOHC motors, and no model year was significantly better than another. You really can't go wrong with any model year for 240sx. Th individual car's condition, maintenance history and options are much more important decision factors to me than model year. I have an '89 and its been great. Enjoy shopping.
