I'm not entirely sure yet, but I'm toying with the idea of letting my 1990 Q45 go.
It features:

115,000 miles on origonal engine.

z32 5-speed swap done right. = Mazworx bellhousing and adapter plate, Redline mt-90 gear oil, chromoly lightened 300zx twin turbo flywheel with stage-3 clutch, Custom made one-piece, steel drive shaft with spicer u-joints, 300zx tt starter, custom fitted z32 clutch, brake pedal, hard line, master and slave cylinder.

Powered By Max Hydro E-brake.

converted to a 1996 G50 ABS actuator (does not leak, new better design).

Adjustable front upper control arms with ball bearings.

Adjustable stainless steel front tension rods.

Adjustable upper rear control arms.

semi-racing alignment with -3.5 degrees of camber in front, and -1.5 in the rear.

Tokico shocks.

Espelir Lowering springs.

17" g35 rims.

Sylvania ultra silverstar high and low beams.

Cadillac triple horns, LOL sounds like a freight train.

850cc Sard racing injectors with adaptors and clips installed in a phase II rail.

All new, updated (metal backed) timing chain guides and tensioners from infiniti.

iridium ngk spark plugs.

Dyno tuned dual-profile ECU, (Flex fuel style setup) Runs on E85 ethanol and 91 octane fuels. Top speed limiter gone, closed loop fuel map speed limit gone (better high-speed gas mileage while cruising) 8,000 RPM rev limit, egr and knock sensor deleted, Automatic transmission deleted. etc....

Custom fabricated 2.5" header-back dual exhaust with stainless strait through magnaflow mufflers and resinators with high-flow crossover X-pipe. All cats deleted. Very subtle when idling or cruising, but wakes up at WOT! :)

ATE Racing Blue DOT 4 fluid in clutch and brake system.

redline gear oil in diff.

Aluminum subframe-spacers.

Jim Wolf Pop-charger (double inverted cone air filter with machined aluminum velocity stack)

255 LPH Walbro fuel pump.

car is getting a new paint job, and has been run with synthetic 10w30 with k&n filters, rare-earth magnet drain plug, since i took it into my hands. The a/c is ice cold, r12.

Maint:

Thermostat.

Long life Porsche/VW coolant,

accy. belts.

Coolant hoses.

Knock sensors.

Crank-angle sensor.

Valve cover gaskets. (reseal with toyota silicone)

z32 tt fuel filter.

Power steering return hoses.

Power antenna.

All interior intact and in good shape.

More to list but i forgot some things.

What would you expect to pay or see this sold for? I have been offered $5,000 and $6,000 cash but didn't want to sell because I love it too much. But lately I have been saving for a engagement ring and need money for a place and all that marriage stuff and this car doesn't seem as important to me lately... I'm keeping my Datsun 240z for sure! LOL. The future prospected wife doesn't want me to sell the Q45 cause she loves driving it, and riding in it (she got it over 120 on the freeway, lol :naughty: ) And I have gotten it well over 150mph in 4th gear, still pulling strong!! :chuckle: But it is a flagship luxury car and I can't afford to keep it long term. Although i did fix all the major expensive problems that these things have, and it will have many long years of service...

What do you guys think?

Your going to need to find someone who is really in love with it and is willing to do the stuff it will need..you didn't mention the timing chain guides, I assume you've done those but that would flag it for me. How the heck do you get that to pass smog??? You have racing in San Diego listed above, but seems like alot of smog stuff is gone. Does it pass CA smog?

I'd say if someone offers you 5-6k that is about what the car could ever fetch. If your happy with that number, GRAB it. Face it most people don't know what a Q45 even is at this point. Unfortunately at this point in time you will never get you money back on all the things you've done to the car. If you can afford to get the ring without selling it, your never going to really get your $$ back and unless your 140 pound guy the 240Z is not a daily driver. If someone offered you more than the 6k I would be very surprised, I will in fact be very interested to see what you could get, my guess is $3500 is closer to reality given the age of the car, how many people other than us Q heads on this board long for a 5 speed Q45?????

I did the timing chain guides, look at the list :) (in your defense it was on the wrong category) My 240z is a daily driver for over 10 years. It passes tailpipe test without cats and e85, (that is with egr enabled) lol :)

How many times have you driven a Datsun 240z? I'm 170lbs 6 foot 3. it has more head and leg room than the Q45 by far!

At 6 foot three, 250 lb my 300zxturbo and 280zx before that were my "daily drivers" {only car} for over 10 years and 200,000 pleasurable miles....in Maryland, with being driven all year round, including light snow!

Those are very very very different than the 240Z, i have a 84' 300ZX and at 6 foot it is one of the few cars I don't sit at the far end of the track. My friend at 6' 9" fit in my car just fine...I guess the key you mentioned is your 170 pounds :), cause I'm 200 now and it is a little cramped when I last rode in one about 3 years ago. Still a fun car, but wouldn't want to drive it daily. My othe friend is more like 240lbs and he could barely get out :) when he got his drive.

so my other questions, can you pass smog in CA with the car? Just wondering with the exhaust work you did.

you can pass ca smog if they don't look under the car, lol. It will fail visual, but pass tail pipe. pretty lame how that works huh? I could just bolt in a couple cats and it would pass visual. I'm not worried about smog, as long as I own it, it is exempt. ;)

Really, how do you get exempt status, just wondering as I would love to get status for my old Z which is always a PITA to get passed (it passes but one part at a time I have replaced all smog equiepment).

that would be an issue for any CA person that buys it obviuosly unless you have a way to pass that status along.

depends where you live, I live in rual area, so the local government doesn't want smog checks i guess, I can't pass it along to the next person.

Hey SD - where did you mount the horns? I am familiar with those Cadillac horns.

I need to definately want to upgrade the motorcycle "meep meep" horns.

Actually the Ridgeline horns have an "entitled sound" that is more like an Escalade or some newer Cadillac.. The problem is those horns are not available at salvage yards..

Yeah I definitely want to do that, I almost wish my horns were broken in my Q because it would actually be easier (and louder) for me to rev the engine to hear the exhaust then the horn, LOL

Ah, rural area in CA, god i need to use your address!!!!!! Well good luck selling it, I hope you decide to keep it as it sounds like a one-of-a-kind.

Post it here and hopefully a Q head will pay you something that is fair.

It mounted the 3 cadillac horns in the stock locations. i might have double stacked one of them, i don't remember... lol, not much room down there.

here is a video of a buddy of mine who turbocharged his mazda 3 doing a quick run. you can't hear his car, but he hit the throttle before i did, and the second round i let him go ahead for a moment.

http://www.youtube.com/user/paintmymark ... EAKzEmEeqw

http://www.youtube.com/user/paintmymark ... NGc_KkPUIg

I hit 8,000 rpms in one of the videos, hard to tell cause the camera was moving around so much.

I also got in a tangle with a 2011 BMW 335is with a 6-speed last week and managed a victory (barely) he pulled on me early in the shift point, but i pulled ahead more as he wound out the rpms past peak tq. He had a very annoyed expression (and avoided eye contact, chin held up and seat leaned back) on his face when he got a look at my car when I passed by. I also managed a victory against a 2011 Lexus ISF two days ago, he managed to crawl ahead half a car length at a 1mph pace till we got to about 120, then I closed in at just a slightly higher rate. He gave a thumbs up and was wide eyed looking at my old man clunker. Later that night I raced a Mini S, that was not much of a race, about the same as the Mazda 3. I really am liking this car more now. I love how it is totally under the radar but is ready for a kill against the modern luxury sports cars. just needed some updating to a 5-speed and some tuning...
