Please dont be a hater, Yes im 18 right now, and have $11,000 right now I was going to put towards an altima coupe which is $18, 500 Base model, and $1200 for aftermarket leather and all the seats ($19,700). So the remaining $9700 was going to be loaded to me by parents then I pay them back overtime. The question is, is it worth being in a little more debt to get the Premium & convenience package (+ $3140 total) ? That would then make the total $22,840 + tax?

SO after tax its basically either $21670 base model with leather, or $25,124 with the extra packages?

Thanks

idk why anyone is gonna hate since you saved up some money at the age of 18 to buy your own car.
Anyways, it depends on your long run benefits and what features are going to be best for you.

IMO, I regret not getting the convenience package. Having 1 Auto window is starting to irritate me. Idk why nissan cant put in one extra measly auto window on the passenger side. Sometimes I wish I had a moonroof and a cool back up cameras and powered seats and auto headlights. So yeah, i think it's worth it in the long run if nothing breaks hopefully.
If you arent gonna keep your car for very long then there's no point in spending it on ripoff luxury packages.
and idk if you plan on modding, add that in as a factor.

I did exactly what you doing right now yutubemedia, same numbers and all. I love my coupe to this day and I'm very happy I went with the convenience package. You can definitely find the coupe for cheaper than 25k though.

i have both packages and although i definitely hesitated at first with the hefty costs they add on i think it's well worth it now..
i went the sheepskin seat route though because i feel they're a lot more comfy than leather but that's just my opinion..

The upgrades you get with the premium package (leather, sound system, reverse mirror, HID's) can in my opinion be all added later in the future for at *most* the same cost you're going to pay the dealership now.

I think at your stage you should just stay with the convenience package, and do the upgrade later *after* you finish paying off your car. I wish I could take my own advice though... lol. I'm in debt right now from school n stuff, and honestly, it sucks when you're in debt, and it sucks worse when you're in debt for anything other than a mortgage.

The base model is normally like $21,000, so I got a dealership to offer it to me for $18,500 and that includes a VPP (vehicle Purchase Program) discount. The 25K price is after Taxes, packages and leather.

But perhaps Ill try to bargain him down to like 17K for the car.

Yeah, the premium package is twice the price as the convenience, although If i waited till later that means they would have to carve a moon roof in my car? haha. Might have to just pass on the premium package like you said,....

I'd get the convenience package, for the price of the premium you can get better stuff. I have the convenience and I'm very happy with it. As for hating, I don't see why that would happen. If you've saved a good amount of money i give you props, I just don't like it though when mommy n daddy just buy a new car for their kid cuz it won't mean the same to them, and a lot of first time drivers wreck their first car as well. You will be happy with your AC!

Okay, yeah well with the premium package, The moon roof and back up camera is mainly what i wanted, the moonroof would have looked really cool, but it is expensive.

It may be different in Canada, but I have only the convenience package (no premium) but I also have a moonroof.

You should investigate the cost of that if you really want it.

I have the moonroof lol. i guess it was something the dealer just wanted to add, they also gave a slight tint on my windows. I'm sure there are a few other things im missing.

my 09 coupe has only the convenience package.
when i was getting my car i had two dealerships
$23,200 OTD (dark slate) which ended up to be total s***, as the dealer completely lied and though we were bluffing.
the first dealer after having us wait there for 40 minutes only to come out and tell us they did not have the A/C in dark slate, and offered us a silver coupe w/ convenience package+ a free moonroof for the same price, but we left to the other dealership to get my current car
$23,100 OTD for my current precision gray coupe

both prices were from dealerships in LA county, and were negotiated prior to us driving up from LA

and i definitely am glad to have the convenience package. most of the features in it i cant really see them being added in aftermarket. if someone can correct this statement, that would be great.
however with the premium, everything is/can be available for cheaper like others said.

wow... it sucks that moonroof come in Premium package in USA...

I had same dilemma as you when I was buying my car. I eventually decided to go with Premium + Convenience package because I didn't want to go through the trouble of buying and installing aftermarket stereo system and the default (non-Boss) stereo's quality was not up to my standard although I'm not really picky on sound.

Also I just like the look of the dual climate control :P

Consider you're financial situation, think about if the extra few thousand debt will degrade you're lifestyle, then you probably go with the cheaper option. But if you can manage the debt, I vote for getting the premium package because it seems like you want it ;)

Oh forgot to mention that I did push the dealer hard to give me a good deal, so that my premium package is actually free haha. Buy hey I was ready to pay them if I couldn't negotiate the deal :chuckle: .
