Well I found this place where I can get an SR20DET motor really cheap. A couple of my friends got honda engines from this company....they were clean and run great. Well the guy told me I could get a red top for $1300 shipped with a cut harness or $1600 shipped for an uncut harness(black or red top for this price). The motors have roughly 60K miles and include.....motor, 5 speed transmission, ECU, and harness. Is there an expensive part missing from this and would you guys order this motor from this company with the provided info?

Does it come with the intercooler or no? Are they junkyard engines? I'd be pretty skeptical myself, as that is WAY under the going price for a black top. Any start-up guarantee?

Yeah, like Repo said, I'd be skeptical.

Your likely to get an sr with no turbo or intercooler, or something like that.

This is strictly my opinion...Your best bet is to go with a reputable company like Afterdark-tuning,unstable hybrids, or Heavy throttle. There are some other good companies out there, you just have to check around.

You get what you pay for. Use cautions with these importers.

The engines don't include intercoolers, but they come with a start up guarantee. My friends engine he got from this company is immaculate. I'm skeptical too because of the price, so I might drive there and check out the engines myself.

Thats what I'm thinking. My friend said they have a huge garage full of motors and trannies and everythings clean. He also knows 3 guys that purchased engines from them and they run great. ROAD TRIP!! Whats some things to check out on the engines when I eventually go?

Yeah.... Get them to do a compression test and a written start up guarantee.

By the way, how the heck do you spell guarantee? You would think I never made it through High School. I did, barely.

take someone who knows turbo engines so they can take a look and help you make a decision... take a few pic's while you are at it and post it up.,. and i'm sure some people will be able to tell you by looking at the engines if something is fishy

Ok, I'll see if I can find someone who knows a lot about the turbo's and that. Should I see if they can send me pictures of some of the SR20's, or won't that really pay off?

Pictures will at least tell you if there are pieces and parts missing. Or if parts are not where they should be.

Like that poor guy on the SR section who got sold a FWD SR20. Heck, I think his was a non turbo at that.

Ok, I'll email them and ask for pictures. When I called, the first thing the guy asked me, was this for a RWD or FWD car. Thanks a lot guys.

the same way an engine dyno is done, basically. just not as elaborate. this would also give you a startup yes or no.

They're located in Montreal and their name is Osaka Motors. I heard engines in Canada are cheaper, but not sure on that one. I'm heading there in a few weeks and I'll definately let you guys know how the engines are.
