Ok I am lost now having spoke to my dealer about my order. And I wanted to ask your opinions on how you would handle this situation...

I ordered my coupe back in the end of may. It has been 5 weeks and they haven't even began the process of building or even assigning a build. We are now officially 5 weeks behind schedule. Nissan came in and put a hold at the distributor and they are not giving them any more buildable units and have told them they are not allowed to continue building. The 09's are supposed to come in and transitions are being made so all special orders were put on hold. The dealer said my car will almost likely be an 09... he is actually 99% positive about that. Originally he told me that we had made a deal and they would not go back on the negotiated price they gave me. That story has changed, they are now saying that they do not know what it will cost me yet because they do not know the new pricing for the 09 yet and they don't know nissans interest rates and money factors so I could owe more.

What should I do?

My anticipation and desire keeps me holding out and waiting. If I cancel my order I will be back at stage 1 and will have to wait 9 months to a year to get a similar deal.

My family and friends keep telling me I should just drop the order and get an Accord.... NO FRIGGIN WAY!

The dealer said he will do everything in his power to keep my payment as close to or exactly on what was negotiated but he can't make any promises.

And if they do make it an 09 and I accept, it will start the process of 8-12 weeks of waiting again.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.....

you cant believe anything anyone says. Whats the paperwork say? If its not on paper, your probably not going to get it.

Dealerships are more of a bs artist than a cop trying to get a confession out of a crook!

I am in a similar situation, just got off the phone with my dealer. He said if i stick with my special order that was put in on june 6th i will most likely get an 09, and have to wait until october, and negotiate a new price.

F U NISSAN FOR NOT STOCKING UP ON 6MT!!!!!!

OCTOBER!

Holy sh*t! That's what is probably going to happen to me as well but I really am hoping that it comes in august... the only thing the distributor said was since I was before the cut off but "accidently fell after the cut off" I will be one of the first off the lines. Although what does that mean? first when? after they make all the other 100's of thousands for dealers to stock up first.... probably. those bastards.

I am now asking myself should I just buy the same car but with a CVT instead..... I just will miss driving a stick sooooo much.

Why not search dealers around. I don't mean close by, I mean like 4-500 miles away.

Someone's gotta have your car. I live in Utah and I almost drove to Vegas to get mine when I found out that Planet Nissan in Las Vegas has 20 on the lot.

If you need a 6MT and you need it NOW, what's a 4-7 hour drive to get it?

Might even get it shipped for a couple hundred bucks in a dealer trade, or just an acquisition.

There have to be other dealers around. Can you check in D.C.?

They have a pretty 6MT loaded up here that looks pretty sweet...but I don't think you want to drive to Utah.

I almost drove to Vegas to get what I wanted, but my dealer came through for me.

just got off the phone with my dealer for the 3rd time today.

He told me he could only find a few 6MT coupes on the entire east coast, and none of them were dark slate (i wont budge on my color).

He did however find a sedan that had every single option i was looking for . . .

so now i have a hard decision to make . . . coupe? sedan? (im 23 so i have insurance to worry about with the coupe, thats about the only positive i can think of in getting a sedan )

your gonna let availability decide between a coupe and sedan?Think about it first, you arent driving it for a day. Which will make you happier?

You all might want to try calling the dealerships in a 100 mile radius of where you live.

Last year in Aug, all the dealerships in Atlanta said they couldn't find an Azure Blue A/C in the southeast. I went to nissan's website pulled up all the dealerships near me and checked their online inventory, I found mine about 100 miles away in Athens, GA and at the price I wanted.

my current car (93 mazda 6) is HURTING. I have NO idea how much longer im going to be able to drive it, when it rains and the engine isnt warmed up, every gear slips for about 4 miles, then it all evens out or something. it is sketchy haha. The car could go any day now.

i didnt want to settle at all on anything on my first new car purchase though . . . but if it is a difference of 3 months and i could potentially be carless in that 3 months i may have too . . .

PS: i checked 100 miles from my zip, nothing. I wish i could search the entire countries inventory for my car and just look for the closest. But the way the site is you have to select each individual dealership and check its inventory, so inefficient, awful search functionality.

I hear ya man....

I am 27 and I want the coupe... if I were 30 I would consider the sedan if not put it as my first choice.

I feel as though I need to hold on though, considering if I pull out now I will have to wait a whole year....Worst case is that I get it in Sept/Oct at a pretty good price as long as they don't increase the price too much. On the other hand I have no idea what the money factor will be...

I am close to saying screw it and running out to buy my audi A5...(not really)

well i found a blue 6MT with navi etc in NY, i think i am WAY more comfortable 'settling' for blue than a sedan . . .

Definately call the dealerships yourself to find what you want. Don't just take the dealers word.

I called 3 dealerships in town and got a different answer every time.

I'm sure someone has your car.

so after a rediculous panic shiza show, we found a coupe made for me in penn. awesome.

except the dealer wants 400 to have it picked up.

Why cant i just take a roadtrip myself and save a few hundred dollars?

(srry im so noob to the car buying industry =/ )

I'M FINALLY PICKING HER UP TOMORROW AT 1!! After a long 3 month wait she is finally here. Went to the bank today and picked up the loan check, cleaned out the garage, I'm ready and pumped.
