Most of you have seen this topic up already, but, Chaotic_Warlord gave me the idea so don't get mad at me cause you seen it again! The SRT-10 and other sport trucks are out the window as far as an option. I will be going diesel all the way. Now choose which one you would buy!

Unfortunately, I know nothing of these 2 engines.

I would weigh up ;Availability of parts (for now, and in the future)How easily each can be modified(and for what cost)Resale value on each (maybe one holds it's value better than the other )

Also, if you can find someone who has driven vehicles with both of these engines to give you an opinion would be best.

People who own/drive only 1 or the other will probably be biased to that particular engine.

If I had to vote, I would probably go with the bigger displacement engine, as I assume it would be less stressed hauling the same load, giving you longer engine life.

I voted for the Powerstroke,

Your title sucks by the way, you should have titled it which diesel truck should I get, you'd get more of the diesel guys in here for an even vote.

Nother vote for cummins... had three shop teachers who had heavily modified cummins sand-dune chasers. They took the abuse well.

Cummins, because they are easier to work on (so I have been told).

If I had Pesos, then I must be in Mexico and I'd rather buy clean drinking water. Where's that option!?

I voted Powerstroke, but just because it comes in the Ford F-Series trucks and I absolutely love Ford trucks. My favorite diesel engine is the ol'12 valve Cummins engine, if I could find one of those rebuild it and shove it an a seventh gen f-250, that would be my ultimate dream truck.

The cummins is a far better engine. My brother (Dieselman) is the guru of Cummins around here and builds good ones. They're far cheaper to modify, get better mileage and make more torque. WIN WIN WIN.

Whatever. Ford sucks because they route the wiring all funky and love to hold their bodies together using the most fu*ked up locations for their fasteners.

The "Sunny Truck with an FJ swap" option was missing. Just thought you'd want to know.

Voted for the Cummins, but I'm biased. I already drive a Ram, just not a diesel.
