I don't understand why only the G35 sedan didn't get the dual pipe look that all the other VQ's have (Altima, Maxima, G35c, Murano, M35, FX35, and Z)
I really want to do a cat back system on my G but i want Dual Exit Pipes... not this cram it all into one side of the car crap!
If there is a reason for not being done do you think i could remove the Muffler and the coupe mid pipe, Put in a Dual set up and have custom stright pipes to the exit without any muffler?
What would it take and why hasn't it been done yet?
TampaG35, I think it would require simply re mounting the hanger points in the coupe locations, and removing any old stock exhaust components... but beware, the exhaust resonator is the size of your fathers biggest suitcase, swear.
I've often thought of this... he he, it would be sick
Ya might need spacer too, because the sedan's extra length.

I have the coupe mid pipe in now... I was looking to get like a Borla setup from a coupe and not use the mufflers or find really small mufflers that can be used. I know the pass side of the car has less room by design.
I wonder if there is anything in the way of the rear section?

There is a valve and pressure sensor in the EVAP box that need to remain up there.
That system is used to purge and vent the fuel tank. The oem fuel cap is a venting cap everything would be fine. Well it is, except for when you are trying to get gas! There is no way for the air in the tank to vent when the filler line is full of fuel. So it takes 20 minutes to fill up your gas tank. So you must find another spot to put the system.

So where should it be moved to... I am all for taking out the spare and putting it in that area. Do you think that would be an easy fix?
I Really like the look of it if it stayed with the stock muffler on both sides.. I don't think there is enough room but I will have to jack it up to find out!

Ok.. I jacked it up and took the plastic cover off of it!
It looks like it would be a lot of work to move it.
I think we need to go back to the first idea, Put in a true dual exhaust.
We would have to remove the Y pipe and mid pipe, and muffler!
Then I could install a y pipe that is a dual H set up not a X and use a small set of mufflers to put before the differential! Then I can run the 2 pipes to the rear for the dual exits... I could find a Y splitter that would give me the look of 4 like in my picture! I also would have chrome tips and paint the pipe like a black or gunmetal color with 1200 deg heat paint!
Just saw this thread now as I've been wanting/wondering the same thing since these beauties came out with the 6MT mid-2003... I love/have loved the sedans regardless of their single "dual-piped" outlet. Now that I have one in my possession, like most people, want more more more!
It is lame! ESPECIALLY lame that Nissan has marketed dual exhaust tips for even the 4 banger 2.5 Altimas in their new design. People love to take off those displacement badges to disguise whether they're driving the 2.5 or the 3.5, those bastards! But yeah, 1st gen G35 sedans would be so sexy with quad tips, similar to the 6th gen Maximas.

I think what i want done is to cut the mid pipe sorter and move the resignator towards the front of the car and mount the muffler right after the midpipe resignator.... (before the differential)
Then weld pipes from each of the two opening (one small pipe to each side)
This would give me the same sound that I have now and then i Could get Chrome Y's for the tips of each pipe! The pipe would run along the bottom of the car (painted flat black so that you wouldn't see them.) Nothing would hang lower than it does now on the back of the car so it will still look sweet!
All I wold have to do is weld mounting brakets to each side and then cut the plastic to make each side look the same!
I would add a heat sheild for the side with the fuel box!
What do you guys think???
Here is what the sedan would look like with out the mufflers and with twin pipes... pretend the muffler isn't located back there any more!

Actually, you would end up losing a couple hp. Keep it a single. Less paths to pass, with less curves in the piping. If you still want to go dual, just have straight pipes coming from the headers to the back. Doing do with a resonator, you would lose power without a doubt. It's been proven.

I think this is going to be a time consuming project no mater how you tackle it. But hey if you succeed you could be a Sedan Hero. A pioneer in neglected sedan history. Or you could have an epic fail. Either way take lots of pictures and save up some "Oh **** money"
