What would it sell for?

I am looking at dropping a VG30DETT with a 5-speed transmission into a very clean 1987 300zx (that i have the opportunity to buy rather cheap) with only 118,000 miles on it. I am not sure if I want to do it though because I don't know if it would be worth it. I would be building it only to sell it, because I have a 240 that I just put a turbo in, and I would like to make some money back. I have been looking around but can't find anyone who is trying to or has sold a Z31 with the VG30DETT in it. So I was just wondering, What do you think I would be able to sell the car for(about)?

KBB puts the value of the car at around $4k. So that's about what it will be worth. But probably less. People are able to pick up very clean, near mint Z31s for about that price and under. Most sales I hear about are around the $2,500 range.

Don't forget to subtract from the value if things aren't working correctly. Like, AC, PS, windows, hard starting, etc.

And the reason you don't find any Z31s with VG30DETT's for sale is because I'm only aware of about 4 of them. And they are all in Japan.

If you think you can swap a VG30DETT into a Z31 for under $2k, go for it. I'd love to actually see one stateside.
