KBB puts the value of the car at around $4k. So that's about what it will be worth. But probably less. People are able to pick up very clean, near mint Z31s for about that price and under. Most sales I hear about are around the $2,500 range.
Don't forget to subtract from the value if things aren't working correctly. Like, AC, PS, windows, hard starting, etc.
And the reason you don't find any Z31s with VG30DETT's for sale is because I'm only aware of about 4 of them. And they are all in Japan.
If you think you can swap a VG30DETT into a Z31 for under $2k, go for it. I'd love to actually see one stateside.
Now, repeat after me:A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.A CAR IS NOT AN INVESTMENT.
