I can't turn it off. And when the dealer tries to connect it says no cruise control.

Where is the CC fuse located?

The location is greatly dependent on the type of vehicle you have. I see no information regarding year, and whether you have ICC or not.

In any case if they cannot call up a certain control unit that more likely than not means your communication (CAN) network has an issue, be it either on the power supply side to your control unit or on a circuit issue between the ASCD CU and the DLC connector.

Thanks for the response.

I have a 2006 M35x with ICC.

Well somethin aint right if the tech can't see it when they plug in the Consult II.

Have you tried clearing the codes - check the FSM on how to clear all the codes and see if the light comes back. It might just need a reset. Also check the FSM for troubleshooting the ICC circuit. I've stuffed my head in that FSM so much since october my girl considers me the factory trained tech and thinks I should go work for infiniti - lol once upon a time I was a tech and those days could return, but not if I still have my cooshy office job

There is no visual inspection that can verify if the ICC sensor is intact. Inside the hard metal shell the IC is amazingly complex and there is an electromagnetically controlled refractor lens assembly. (If you guys are interest I can show you what you get for $2,000+) I took one apart recently and held onto it for just this type of conversation.

Now for ICC units. This is a fantastic feature on a new car. On a car that has exceeded warranty this feature may become more than an annoyance. The mounting bracket on the early Ms with ICC CANNOT under any circumstances be compromised, the sensor internally adjusts its X axis based on a correct mounting. It seems like a simple enough issue, however the tolerances have to be so microscopic (think about moving the emitting sensor and the receiving sensor and the implications over distance) that any imperfection will most likely cause the system not to work. Since the control unit (an CAN connection) are all integrated into the front mounted sensor assembly. Making that little black sensor worth as much as both headlight and twice as much as the hood. So keep that in mind when you are behind a dumptruck.

Not to rain on this parade anymore but, diagnosing this system without a Consult is going to be next to impossible and even if you get it to power up you will need to align the sensor again using the "Infiniti special aligning target". I am very curious to see the outcome of this, please keep us informed. GL

Steve I know I said it before but I can not say it enough.

You rock.

If you got a dead unit can you take it apart and snap a picture. I'd like to visualize one. LOL

Steve,

What you posted is all good info, but......that really never got around to answering why an Infiniti tech could not obviously figure out what is wrong with his M's cruise control......that's pretty bad IMO.

Joestang, is the car under warranty? Does the front sensor look like something hit it? If not, they need to repair your car. I think you rubbed this dealer the wrong way in the past and now need to go to another dealer. You might not have rubbed them the wrong way, but they just might not be willing to go the extra mile for all of your warranty repairs..... I don't know.... I would be complaining to the dealer service manager about right now. Or....can you be a bit more descriptive in this cruise control issue and how it may or may not have started.

Don't be a d!ck.

The OPs could very well be out of warranty or show signs of non warrantable damage. The information is incomplete. I can provide information on many things, however I cannot tell why some people do what they do.
