whould would cause my idle while in park or neutral to jump up and down wih the ac off its never done it before and it just started and the only thing i can think of is a vaccum line or something like that but i have no leaks.

also what would cause my temp gauge to jump up and down while parked but while im driving to goes to normal temp. i did notice that my wire for the sensor on the metal pipe the metal wire that holds it on is gone and it giggles around would that cause it or no cause it is really bothering aspeccially when its a car that has overheated and stalled from getting too hot. lol

and for living in florida should i install a trans cooler to make my transmission last?

I would replace the temperature sensor and fix the connector and that SHOULD solve the problem, But since thats the most obvious start there first.

Yes a transmission cooler will benefit any vehicle with and auto trans in nearly any temp.

I've noticed over the years, that J30 transmissions that reside in warmer climates fail more often. So go ahead and install a transmission cooler and do full transmission flushes at the proper intervals.

ok well im am still puzzled with the sputtering that it is doing. now for some reason it only sputters when i dont have the ac on and when it is either in park or neutral. would having the egr that has been cloged for ages make it do this or not? im totally puzzled and want this to go away. now for the trans cooler would i still run the fluid through the radiator and then to the the cooler and back to the transmission or just bypass the radiator?

Idle speed is higher in Park and Neutral than in Drive, stopped with your foot on the brake, and when accesories such as AC, PS, Alternator are ON, increasing the load on the engine.

Sounds like all factors affecting basic idle speed aren't right. The two links below describe all that should be done to correct them.

I believe the EGR valve opens at higher rpms/increased manifold vacuum, but it also could be leaking.

That's the way I did it.

I'm pondering rerouting mine to just the B&M cooler. The thermal bypass would help the transmission fluid get to temp in these chilly days !!
