what would cause my fuel pump to stay running???

shouldn't it turn off after a few seconds?

Let the vehicle sit over night. Then in the morning, turn the ignition on and see if it turns on then off. If it still remains on, check your fuel pump relay. Check the FSM for location and functionality.

i dont think it woudl be a relay. pump is timed to run several seconds if key is left at on to build pressure and there is no timign device built in to the relay. check electrical diagram where timer is located. i am not sure but ECU should be what controlls the pump run time.

You have a short to power. Your pump is pull ing power from someplace it should not be. Check your wiring. It has to be something that draws current with the key off, or the short is after the ignition switch
