Anyone know what adapters (if any) would be required to make this work with my 92Q? The original harness is in the trunk, but no player.

Thanks,Rod

A different HU and a bunch of cables .

The 92 HU doesn't support changer control, that was done through a seperate controller, and the wiring for that unit was pre-installed in 94-96 (at least) and would be hard/expensive to come by as even trying to get it from a parted Q would require a lot of labor.

Now that I've given you all the bad news, I'll do a little self promoting, I have an early Q changer, controller and cables, though I think a connector or 2 is missing for sale. $100 shipped, and it includes 2 magazines.

hope that helps.

Thanks Rex. Can you email me the model and part numbers from the unit you have? I want to see if they match the numbers from the unit I used to have.

If you can still get it out of the trash, I'll take it. I have 2 that work sporadically, and would love another one. Maybe I will eventually get one that works, or put one together from all the parts that still work.

As another option, I have an extra 1995 Q45 head unit and a cable to the trunk changer that would work with this. The knobs on the head unit are slightly different than yours.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can make an adaptor out of about $5 in parts at Radio Shack. Here are the pin-outs for the input on the back of the radio.

I used a Sony changer with RF modulated remote (just never hooked up the modulator) because it had convenient RCA outputs from the changer. I made my adaptor with RCA Female inputs and plugged it right up! Mounted the controller in the center console and it worked great.
