What will gears do to freeway driving?

With the 4.6 gear upgrade, what will my RPM be at like 70-75 mph?

4.6/4.08~1.13so times your rpm by 1.13 to figured where youd be ati.e. 70 at 3200 in 5th ~3600 rpm at 70 in 5thi am pretty sure 3200 at 5th will be about 70 stock so that should be about rightb

well, with the R200V the equyation is X1.17 instead of 1.13 because of the gear case transfer rates in the rearend.

Typically, it will FEEL the same as any other rear end.Your RPM level will just increase slightly more.

In theory it will increase your acceleration.. Smaller gear, less powered needed to turn the wheels.

Where would you get this rear end? Also, are there any vlsd's with higher gear ratios than stock? Maybe some rear ends that came in stock nissan vehicles, that require some modifications to make em fit.

Edit: the reason i'm asking is because when i switched to bigger, slightly heavier wheels and tires, with 8% increase in gear ratios, the acceleration was very noticebly worse. I removed the clutch fan at the same time too.

you have a 240...It pulls in 5th?

lol, I'm just playing with ya man.The gears will make it seem to pull harder and higher in the RPMs in top gears, however you will lose top speed.

Hey, I tried some gear rations on Gran Tourismo 2 on Playstation on a 240sx. Hey don't laugh! Stock the car had 4.083 final and the redline limited max speed was around 137-140 and with the 4.6 final it redlined at about 105. I relize this isn't exactly real life info but it is probly close.Go ahead and laugh at me!GRAN TOURISMO 2 RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run 93 octane.

Remember that SOHC pistons will bring your compression up near 11.6:1, you wouldn't get away with compression like that on pump gas. My pistons are milled down to run 11:1.

GT2 is a better game in terms of playability, realism, and car choice- before GT3 came out i was *sure* it was the game i was gonna buy a PS2 for. after playing it at a friend's house, i said "nevermind" and bought Grand Theft Auto 3 for my PC instead...

& i actually did the same thing last weekend- only i had to use an SR20DE S14, since they don't have a KA version in the game... but yeah, end result- i want better tires and shorter gearing, like now.

I don't know about you guys but anymore revs at 70 would be maddening. I cruise at like 80+ on I90 when i go into the mountains. i would personally prefer different spacing on the gears that are there, but thats just me. That's one thing i hate about all import cars they are reving to high at decent speeds, ever try doing 85 in a 91 gti 8v your at 4300, mean while most v8s do like 2200. Then again i take long trips a decent amount. also do you really want 105 top speed, i think about 140 is almost perfect if the car had the balls to move it to that. just my opinion thoughb
