1992 Toyota Corolla

(my all-time favorite car... bulletproof reliability, excellent fuel economy, had 179K before I got T-boned)

1998 Volkswagen Golf

(pure nightmare... brake light issues the entire time, AC worked when it wanted to, when it rained it poured into my car through the passenger side, by the end it was stinky and moldy)

2006 Scion xA

(loved it, but it had an insanely harsh ride; replaced it with my V)

I think we had a thread on this before ...

This was mine:2001 Hyundai Accent GS. Used it for 4 years (throughout university as a commuter car) and traded it in for the Versa in 2008.

too many to list, but I have only had my new V for 250 miles so far ,but have been enjoying more about it than my last 3 , much more expensive cars, been enjoying the great mileage(just dropped below half tank) great toys, bluetooth, Ipod, intelligent key, and just received my new payment book, cheapest payment in many, many years!, my last 3 were 2006 Infiniti G35, 2005 Nissan 350Z, and 2002 Nissan Altima. Like many people I went to the V because I started to think in more practicle terms in these tough economic times, but I never thought I would enjoy it so much!

I had a 1996 Dodge Neon that I quit driving when it got to 215,000 miles. It still ran. It just wasn't in great shape and felt it should be retired. There's a lot of Neon bashers out there though that think I'd be lying that I ever got a Neon to 215,000 miles and still running.

Steed,

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the MK4 Golf. Great, classic design. Perfect size and everything. My favorite Golf. The Rabbit and the New Golf are ugly.

PSU Letters:http://www.chromeautoemblems.c...20_53

When they send me the letters they included an ad for their partner company so I gave them a call for the custom back window vinyl sticker. I told them what I wanted and they made it for $13.http://prosportdecals.com

Car: '09 Versa SL, '84 Vanagon

Post

Here's what I've run since I was sixteen.

I originally bought this '84 Vanagon that I have discussed before. Subaru 2.2 swap, four-speed manual. Learned how to drive manual in it as well. Bought it spring 2006, drove it on learner's permit over the summer of 2006. Got my license fall 2006 and drove it up until the winter. Due to a variety of reasons (eg, potential rust issues that I wanted to prevent, no heat, etc) I put it away for winters, which meant a few years of procuring $300 beaters to get me around during the winter months.Boston - parked next to an example of a car I would eventually own, but never would have guessed at the time.

Note how it's parked across a regular space. It still fit.During this time, I also ran this '70 Subaru 360. 25hp two-stroke twin mounted at the rear. Suicide doors. Dog-leg four-speed with non-syncro first gear. It was quite the fun ride, if slow. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, money became tight and I had to let it go. It's in a museum in Massachusetts now.One of these cars is American. The other is not. Can you guess which one?

My first winter beater was this 1993 Ford Taurus. Hey, it did get me around. Unfortunately, like all Tauri second-generation and beyond, it was an automatic. At least it kept my van out of the salt. Bought for $400 and sold for $600 in the spring.

Ran the van for spring, summer and fall 2007, purchasing this beat to s*** '93 323 (also an auto, unfortunately) for $300. That was the most horribly beaten car I have ever owned, but it ran and ran. Sold for $500 in spring of 2008.

Ran the van spring, summer and fall again. Bought this '94 Excel for $700. Five speed. Unfortunately it did not last a month as the oil pump failed at 66,000 miles (carfax legit miles), so I did not make out so well. Sold the rest of the car for $350.

Bought this Prelude for $700. It got me through the winter, however it was dual carb'd and therefore it was a real b**** to start. That, and the right front brake was nonfunctional and therefore the car went into a slide every time I hit the brakes on a loose surface. Five-speed. Taught me a serious lesson in car control. Sold for $500 in the spring because it wound up having some more issues that I had no time to deal with.

The van was sidelined for the spring and it currently awaits a restoration once I have the time and expertise.

At that time, I had a pretty good amount of money saved up so I bought this five-speed '92 SL1 for $1200. I did a bit of work to it and it got me around for a good 12,000 miles or so before problems became too severe. Sold for $750 - a decent return on a car notorious for not holding its' value.

At this point I could finally afford full-coverage insurance so I bought myself a six-speed '08 Versa SL. I'm keeping it stock so it will be a nice reliable daily driver while I restore the Vanagon.

My dad and I also went halves on this '88 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL that - so far - has been a REALLY sound investment.

Believe it or not at the grand old age of 29 I'm only on my second car! The first I bought in 2007. I'm originally from Ireland and over there a car wasn't a critical requirement as it is here in the US lol.

My last and first car was a 1998 Mercury Tracer GS.. also known as the Ford Escort. I bought it with about 75k on the clock for about $2,800 inc tax, title tag.. etc. It more or less died or was bout to die the day I drove it into the Nissan dealership and rolled out about two hours later in a nice new Versa.

I admit the Versa is a massive setup from the Ford. I mean the Ford was nice, very clean inside and out drove well (till it died) everything worked. Even so there's no real comparison between the two. I really like how the Versa sits up high the room inside and all important for me was the hatch back!!

Sensing a trend on Nissans? Yep. Only reason I didn't keep the '89 Sentra was because I totaled it and so I took my first wife's Saturn and she got a new car. I hated that thing. My folks gave me the 89 Maxima in 1999 and it only had about 60K miles on it since my mom basically drove it around town- it was a much cushier ride. Loved that car until the transmission died and I got my 01 Sentra. Which I still have and I am looking to sell. If anyone is interested PM me, I'm in NJ. It's completely stock and well cared for.

Nissans run in my family. My dad still has his 85 300ZX and he also has a 2003 Sentra as his daily driver down at my folks' winter house in Florida.

My wife had a 2001 Altima as well.

Starting from first car, onward

-1989 Nissan d21 hard-body pickup, 5 speed

clutch went out shortly after I got it... and sold!

-late 80's Mitsubishi piece of junk truck,

got it with the d21... chopped the top off it... Truck was vandalized and set on fire.

-1992 Nissan Maxima, automatic...

didn't last long either and transmission died.

-1986 BMW 745i Grey-line

(imported from Germany by family member in air force and given to me) Drove it for a couple months and sold it to by the next car. It was pretty dinged up and like 4 different colors by the time I got it... ran perfectly though. Loads of torque!

-1993 Lexus ES300

owned this one for a while, LOVED it.

-1993 Nissan 240sx coupe.

Best car I've ever owned... beat the heck out of it, and it kept begging for more. put 100k on it... no major issues, did install a clutch at 180k (stock one came out), but it wasn't from failure... was for upgrade.

-2008 Nissan Versa

Still had the 93 240 coupe when i got this. still own this vehicle

-1991 Nissan 240sx

got rid of the 93 and got this one, which is sr20DET and many other goodies. Still own this one

V is the first new car I ever had. I traded in this one and I still miss her, the V can't match the power of my old 1989 MBZ 300TE wagon, that thing hauled...until it started smoking and costing me a fortune, of course the Nissan dealer gave me almost nothing for her too, thiefs !

Prior to this I had the following cars:

'86 Subaru Wagon'71 Maverick Grabber'66 Chevy Corvair'65 VW Bug

We have always kept one utilitarian/larger/family vehicle and one economy car in the stable. Mostly purchased as used cars, although we've purchased some new cars over the years, too.

The Versa directly replaced a 1994 Honda Civic we gave to our son in the Air Force as a wedding gift.

Past rides,

1980 Buick Regal 1981 Mazda RX-7

1993 Honda Civic gotta love the wishbone suspension

1972 Volkswagen Bus.. anyone that thinks the V is not fast enough should get behind the wheel of one of these going uphill sometime..

1991 Volkswagen Corrado G60 total opposite of the bus speed wise love the g-ladder charger it keeps on pulling no lag time..

1998 Plymouth Neon Coupe.. had tons of fun with that one the motor can hold a ton of power and it's the sibling of the so popular Eclipes and Talons, glad I got the Plymouth because the Dodge version had paint issues.. the only gimmick was the key that glowed in the dark neon yellow/green I still have two blanks.

1998 Hyundai Elantra got a spot on "Original Hyundai Customs site" for having a clean KDM ride and was an original member of Team Shark Racing member #066 aka Lantra98

2001 Oldsmobile Alero GT V6 people not knowledgable of cars used to ask me if it was a mustang because of the sound.

2006 Scion xB Square Bizzz cool looking but needed more power traded in newer box.

2007 Nissan Versa Current and Daily driven

2008 Scion xB Current weekend car..

That's my list

Would love to get another VW Combi slow but original

wow alot of first time Nissan owners? My first car was a 1993 s13 Fastback , then a 97 S14. Juts sold the s14 last year, the floor rusted out and the idea of finding a floor and getting it cut, welded etc was way to big of a job so I got rid of it Now the 09 Blueberry V SL.
