Hello, I am new to this forum and my wife's car has a problem. The intake cam timing gear stripped so I replaced it, now the car won't start. I am pretty sure I got the timing set back correctly. I do not think it is off 180 degrees since the idler gear and the exhaust gear are fine and there is not enough room for the timing chain to slip past either of these. Oh , car is a 1995 Sentra 1.6l engine. I have not done a compression test but compression feels good while turning the engine by hand. Any helpful thoughts are appreciated.

Have you verified the valves are OK? I doubt the 1.6 is a non-interference motor.

Here's the FSM that may help weed through issues: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Sentra/1995_Sentra/

I have no experience with the 1.6, or Sentra at all really...lol. Does it have a distributor? If so having the dizzy off a tooth can cause all kinds of starting issues.

Update when you can.
