i've heard that its wise to use a heavier oil first after performing the swap to clean out the motor good. i was wondering if this is accurate, and if so what weight oil to use. i've been told that 20w 50 synth. is good for everyday use after initial period.

thanks

Ive always used 10W-30 full synthetic. It also depends on where you live because winter could change your decision.

I used 10W30, regular oil. Just get the cheapest you can find. Run it for 50 or 100 miles to "clean" everything out and switch to synthetic.

Little for cleaning purposes:

thinner is better as it means more flow. Also a 10w-30 is better as it means less VII's vs a 5w-30 or 10w-40.

Hi detregent oils are MOBIL drive clean and ValvolineDurablend.Even in winter a turbo engine needs to see at least a 40 weight oils so 10w-40 5w-40 15-40 will be good gardes in winter.A turbo in summer may need a 50 weight.

It all depends if you are willing to spend a bit more for syns or not too.

Fred..:)
