what weight oil do you use and why?

So... I was just figuring it up and i noticed i've used a lot of weights of oil in my car so i was wondering what you use and why please let everyone know maybe theres some secrets some know that others don't

I used 15-40 for a while because it coats so well it protects really good but my gas mileage went down

Depends on where you live and what your running. Stock w/bolt ons: 5w20-10w30. Four cylinders rev high and usually require thinner oil. if it's cold go thin/ easier for your car to pump in cold weather. Warm weather, you can go thick if you want. Running a turbo: go thick, Like 20w50 Something with a small first number. And try running synthetic it's always good and will coat better then anything else.

^^^ what he said. depends where you live. in the owners manuel theres a chart to show you what to run in what temps, thats a good starting point.personally, i run 10w40 full synthetic. if you can afford it, ALWAYS run synthetic. just dont believe the rumors about it.

15w40 in a stck KA?

oh hecks yeah KA's love 15w 40 down south less break down than other oils and holds up to alot of abuse

I do a half and half10w-30 and 10w-40

FYI you guys should always be using a 10w for start up. a 15w is to heavy for tolerance issues, it will actually start grinding internals until it gets up to the temperature that is desired for the 15w.

in winter i use 5w-30 and summer 10w-30
