What was this?

92 240 sx KA24DE. I started hearing valve ticking noises last week, and i figured i would pull the valve cover off to inspect. This is what i found. I looked through the FSM and cannot see what it was that was there.

Notice...whatever it was was rubbing there after it broke off.

If you dont see what i am referring too, it is whatever was held by the two bolts right in between the cams.

Any ideas?

Prob timing chain guide. Take it out asap if you can still get to it. If not, look in your oil pan.

well, the oil pan is not coming back off of this motor again unless i have to overhaul it. I just dont understand why the guide is not pictured in the FSM.
