Mine is particularly good:
Kim Carnes Bette Davis Eyes

What's odd is that I own most of this music on vinyl but don't have the MP3s.

I have no idea...

And have you seen like the last 5 years? Its gross what is #1, or even whats in the top 10. Ke$ha got #1 in 2010. This is why I hate the radio...

I was born in the same year as Jesda, but Endless Love was number 1 the day that I was born.

Wow, lots of youngsters in here...or maybe I'm just getting old. Just for clarification Jes, when you say best are you intending to mean favourite? I think some may have read it as the number one song. Anyway, it's one and the same for me...

#1 was Private Eyes by H&O for my DOB, so I'm definitely going for "best of the year" rather than #1.

Likewise for my birth year. Just looking at #1 songs, you have:

Stevie Wonder "Superstition"
Elton John "Crocodile Rock"
Roberta Flack "Killing Me Softly"
The Edgar Winter Group "Frankenstein"
Jim Croce "Bad Bad Leroy Brown"
Marvin Gaye "Let's Get it On"
Grand Funk "We're an American Band"
The Rolling Stones "Angie"
Ringo Starr "Photograph"
Jim Croce "Time in a Bottle"

Even picking one of those is unpossible and I didn't even look at everything that hit the top 100.

For me, there were a number of good ones from the top 100 of that year. Tough to pick only one, so I will list the ones I liked (obviously when I grew older :chuckle:) from the list:

2 Elvis Presley: Don't Be Cruel
5 Gogi Grant: The Wayward Wind
7 Doris Day: Whatever Will Be Will Be (Que Sera Sera)
15 Elvis Presley: Love Me Tender
22 Tennessee Ernie Ford: Sixteen Tons
33 Bill Haley and His Comets: See You Later Alligator
41 Fats Domino: Blueberry Hill

If I was forced to pick one, I would go with "Sixteen Tons" - it was a song that my Dad used to sing when I was young. :)

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge was number 8 in 1992.

Michael Bolton - When A Man Loves A Woman number 54 in 1992.

There were alot of good songs in my year. I'm fairly surprised.

Can't deny the greatness of this song despite the overuse. I loved it as a kid.

OMG 1983 was a absolutely horrible year for music. How can so much bad come from 1 year lol.

Such hits as
28. Mr Roboto
35. The Safety Dance
4. Down Under
17. Never gonna let you go

There are a couple of good ones but the best IMHO is

Oooooh Yeah turn it up.

Wow...there was a lot of evil s*** spewed out in 1984. I mean music, not me. MUSIC.

Huey Lewis and the News were big that year, though, which is good.

This is probably the best top 100.

Or this

It sure as HELL was NOT "Jump" by Van Halen. F$#king Van Halen. Great, now I'm angry.

WAIT!

NO!

I was wrong.

Definitely this:

:gapteeth:

Ugh. Not even GOOD bands had anything to offer in 1984. Nevermind the bad ones.

I really hate the '80s. I was definitely born in the wrong decade. Time for some Walsh to recover my mood.
