What type of silicone to use for front timing cover?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

As the title says, what is the best type of silicone to use for the front timing cover? The upper front timing cover, not the bottom.

I'm using Ultra Grey and it keeps on leaking.

Also, does anyone know how to properly route charcoal canister lines?

I used Permatex gray for Imports. No leaks so far.

Use Hondabond. You can get it from pretty much any Honda parts counter for somewhere between $6 to $8. When that is not available for whatever reason I will use the Permatex ultra grey.

If your seal still leaks however reconsider your application and technique. The 2 mating surfaces must be clean and true. Run a consistent bead of sealant, and I personally let it "skin" for a few minutes before joining the pieces. Tighten all bolts evenly, and do not overtighten for fear of threading/stripping a hole at an in-opportune moment.

As for the charcoal canister, I simply removed it altogether and capped the fittings at the manifold. Just leave the hard line coming from the fuel tank open as a vent.

I used permatex blue for both front covers, valve cover, thermostat housing, etc.;everything involved in the timing rebuild except the oil pan. works like a charm
