I am pretty worried that I have been going about this all wrong when it comes to making the wiring harness. I went to Home Depot and bought Type THHN/MTW/THWN wire. Thats what it says on the actual wire its self. But after the dead pedal cutting into a wire for the 25 AMP power window fuse.... I am worried I bought the wrong stuff.

The worst this wire will see is the doors opening and closing in terms of harshness. Other than that it will be under the carpet routed to systems that remain relatively still, Besides the vibrations from the road.

What kind of wire was used in the engine bay and interior?

This is more suited for the Audio and Security forum but I need to put my mind at ease ASAP, Sorry

14 AWG Type THHN/MTW/THWN wire 600 volts Gas and oil resistant ii VW-1 (UL) or AWM is everything I can make out on the wire.

Please don't try to persuade me to not do this because I am very stubborn and I really want to wire up my alarm after many months of studying.

They make special wiring rated for automotive use, it is labeled as such. Any wiring going from car body into the doors is subject to great stress as doors are opened/closed.

Vehicle wire is usually rated for 120v vs 600v.
18 gauge has 16 strands all other gauges 19 strands.
Teflon insulation for areas exposed to excess heat or oil/gasoline.
