my drive shaft is out of balance and I need to remove it -- and it is a royal PIA I figured the little craftsman open end polished wrench would strip the nut so I did not try and turn it. Cross torque or something else what kinda wrenches should I get?

thansk

get a long snap-on flank drive. so u can have something to bite in to the nut/bolt and the leverage will help. and if its stubborn, use a torch to heat it up a bit..

wurth makes something called rost off and a long open end wrench -- a box end will not fit over it not enough room.....

Lots of PB blaster and ratcheting pivoting wrenches should come in handy.

box end will fit just did it you cannot use an open end other wise you will strip it and if you cant fit the box end over the bolt head it means someone already tried an open end on this good luck

o if you cant fit the box end on cause its a little stripped take a pair of pliers or very small hammer and tap the box end on had to do this to 2 bolts

who ever said you can't use a box en wrench you might check to see id the box end is thick, my snap-on wrenches aren't super thick. Also the 12 point idea is good because it allows you more angles to "attack" the nut but beware because if you don't have it on good a 12 point will round the nut faster than a 6 point

Stop. All suggestions fail. First of all the method relys on the wrench having a good solid straight bite on the nute. Second. Get your jack (assuming your car is up on stands. I hope so. I don't wanna hear about you dying cause no stands) and jack it up until you hit the wrench handle and begin to slowly add pressure. its the easiest way I've found.

everytime ive removed driveshafts in my 240's ive just used a regular wrench

pull up your ebrake so it doesnt try to turn on you and just put some muscle into it, and try to position the wrench to where your pulling instead of pushing, when it finally breaks lose and your pushing really hard it hurts when your fingers get smashed between the wrench and the DS

edit: it may be easier for you if you get 2 wrenches, one on the bolt and one on the nut, push one wrench and pull the other

When I had to do it, I just tapped each bolt with a hammer a few times and it broke loose.
