For our engines, what type of oil would you recommend? I picked up some 5W30 Mobil1 synthetic oil since it was on sale and marked down from $40 to $30, and they gave away an extra litre of oil with it. I cant remember what Rafi said since it's been so long but it had to deal with synthetic oil. He either said use it, or don't use it.. I cant remember.

They probably marked it down because the temps are warmer now. I would go with no less than 10W-30. 5W-30 is too thin.

I was thinking the same as far as the ratings go but they had both on sale. Not only that, the 10w30 was listed as "high milage" right on the bottle and 5w30 was listed as "newer car" or something

5w is kind of a cold rating.Cold is not below zero!!!!!!!!!cold is an ENGINE not @ operating temp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If it's 100* outside, the ENGINE IS COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are BOTH 30 weight oil.

This is the "new" "octane" debate....We've learned what octane does, now we're learning what oil does....

Since day 1 it has been Mobil1 15W-50 for me. All of my SR and KA-T pals run the same.

Oil? hah, you dont need oil. Adds to much weight and gets in the way of the crank spinning.

I inject baby lotion and nitrous in to my oil pan, Now thats some smooth power.
