+1, the gt3076 is good for around 450whp , but for around the same price, you can get the new gt3082 , have around the same lag than the gt3076 , only 300-400 rmp after, and is good for 500whp or more.....WhatsADSM wrote:First things first.
The garret ratings are conservative, so 525 is a little on the conservative end. HOWEVER, garret is also rating that turbo in engine horsepower NOT wheel horse.
Now with the paper bench racing behind us. I am a big believer in the 3076, had it on my last car. It is all around a great turbo. It will spool fast (I would suspect in the low 3000s full boost), great transient response, and if you run it to its limits it will do almost exactly 500whp.... but again do realize you will probably need to push it to the MAX to see 500 and I wouldn't recommend doing that for a very extended period of time... in fact that's exactly why you see the rated spec at around 525 (about 450whp).
So while I think 450whp is plenty (Especially considering the powerband), if you are truly looking to run around with 500whp for an extended period of time you will probably want to step up to something a litte bigger than the 3076.
