ok, for my custom turbo kit im contemplating on what turbo to use. i thinking of either a t3/t4 hybrid, a T4, or the Disco Potato from SCC's Project Silvia. Im also confused as to what the disco potato turbo is considered? (t3.?..t4?....)

what would be the adv. and disadv. to a t3/4 vs a t4

The "disco potato" is a GT28RSits a more advanced ball bearing turbo

the t3/t4 is a hybrid turbo, which is supposed to have the good response of a t3 with the higher flow of the t4, kinda like getting the best of both worlds of the t3 and t4.

What kind of power/boost are you looking to run. What kind of response are you looking for? What's your budget? Are you looking for a turbo that can handle more boost in the future or will handle more than 1 boost setting? If so, what range of boost?

Choosing turbos well for a desired application does require some idea of what you want as a goal. There is not really one single turbo.

But if you were to ask what turbo I think is the most versatile, I'd go with a T04E-50 trim compressor. As far as the turbine, it reallt depends. If you don't mind sacrificing a little bit of response, a T4 Turbine will net a little better breathing up top while a T3 turbine will provide good response. From what I've seen, T3 turbines don't fair too badly up top either depending on the trim and A/R you choose.
