Alright, I'm starting my Ka-T build and was wondering what turbo's everyone is using. I'm looking for something to make around 300whp. I was thinking possibly Gt2871R or possibly a 57trim of some sort. I plan to run a .63 a/r in the rear but open to suggestions. I'd like alittle top-end but, nothing that is going to lag till 4k rpms. I'd like to see positive boost around 2.5-3k and full 10-12psi by 3.5k no later...

What turbo's/trims do you guys run, exhaust a/r's, when do you hit full boost, and what psi are you running?

Thanks guys. Glenn

I have a .50 trimm and almost ready to go KA-T. Previous owner of this turbo made 230whp 10psi. I plan on runing 8psi max, don't want to blow the engine. Go to http://www.ka-t.org - there is plenty of information and what you need to run. Here, just to help you: http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6263

Average: 300 rwhp to 350 rwhp, you have to start to expect a little more lag. This is about the perfect "street car" limit. No race gas, just good honest street car fun that is fully capable of bring home a 12 second timeslip on a good run.

Turbo Manifold T3/T04E .50 Trim compressor, .60 trim compressor housing / Stg 3 (aka TA31) turbine wheel, .48 to .63 A/R exhaust housing. Internal wastegate optional but not recommended. Downpipe can still be 2.5", but this is as far as I would want to push that. Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) It's time to upgrade to a larger front mount as the larger will push more air than the smaller sidemount can cool.

Fuel Control 550cc Injectors SAFC2 to control your fuel injectors, along with the stock ecu. MSD BTM At this stage I would be running the BTM to control timing retard. Reflashed ECU-This can be a DIY thing with Megasquirt Tuning or a JWT. Z32 Maf is required, as the stock Maf stops being able to read at around 260 rwhp. Wideband O2 Sensor should be installed for tuning.

Block Internals This is where I would start to consider it necessary to replace you pistons.

I did 256whp at 7psi on my T04E 50trim.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "street car limit" lol

Get the .63ar turbine housing. If at all possible, go with the stage 5 wheel. I wish I had. Get the turbine housing ceramic coated too. I get a full 22psi of boost before 4k rpm. ITs at like 3900rpm via AVC-R peak hold boost and RPM.

Your main thing for a good setup is gonna be efficiency. Get good flowing parts. Spend money on a good turbo manifold, spend some time fabbing up your downpipe so it is free flowing, get a good intercooler and 2.5" mandrel bent charge pipes, don't use some trash air filter, and get a 4 bolt turbine housing. With that setup and a pretty good tune(Enthalpy), you should make 350whp+ at 1 bar. Thats fun! You will be right in the sweet spot of that turbo.

Thanks for the link but, trust me I know all about ka-t.org. I've been scouring that site for a few months now. I just wanted to see what some people were running and what rpm and psi people were reaching their goals at...
