saw this for sale today. owner sayes it's a garrett ball bearing turbo but he has no idea of what type

It doesnt look like there are any provisions for water cooling so it is probably not a ball bearing turbo. If I were to guess, that turbo came off a diesel truck.

I agree, Diesel truck turbo. Many diesels do have ball bearing turbos since they run hundreds of thousands of miles. Keep in mind though, Diesel have a lot of exhast. Any 4 cylinder may have a lot of trouble spooling that up!

Also, It looks like it might have some broken compressor blades!!(COMMON PROBLEM ON DEISEL TURBOS)

diesals have a lot less exhaust per liter. they don't rev

big engines though!! A tiny diesel 6 cylinder is 6 liters. Most diesel turbos are way to big for any gas 4 cylinder.

I was gonna say the same thing.

Its painted and is oil cooled only.....mass-produced fleet set up.

I was going to say a T04B, but, the inlet looks a little big. So who knows.

Actually that is the size of the T04B inlet.

t4 exhaust flange too. that would be too big for a ka i think. but i am not really sure.
