What turbo are you running? Where does it spool?

I'd like to know what other people have had success with!I'm happy with my current setup for now but I'd really like to get a faster spool, top end horsepower isn't my goal, good response on the backwoods twisties is.

Current setup is a T3 Super-60 with a .48 Exhaust housing. Regular journal bearing not ball bearing.

I start boosting at around 3000rpm and I'm making 17psi by 3600, if I'm at 4000 rpm and floor the boost kicks in pretty much immediately jumping to 17psi in a few hundred rpm.

I'm wondering if a GT28RS would help me in the boost threshold department or not. What other turbos have you guys run?

I've currently got the stock CA turbo on the car right now. -Starts spooling at about 2K and is making 10psi by 2700rprm. Power falls off at about 6500 as this turo is ity-bity

SR T25G-Starts spooling at 2300 and is making 10 psi by 3K. From what I remember, it'll hold make power to redline at 10psi.

GT28R-Starts spooling at 2600and is making 10 psi by 3300. This turbo is good to about 18psi on the CA if I've done my compressor maps right. I had it up to 14 psi a few times and I believe it was making that by about 3500-3600.

You really don't have a poory sized turbo on there, and that super 60 is a pretty decent fit for the CA as well. Y

You've really got to keep something in mind with the CA. Even if I'm fully spooled up before 3K rpm, the car is still gutless below that mark. For some reason, 3K is the magic number on this car.

The fact that you start spooling at 3K and are making 17psi by 3600 is great. You're actually running a better turbo than the GT28R in terms of effecency (making more power) and I really dont' think it's spooling any more slowly.

You can try a smaller turbo, but you'll be dissapointed. The CA just ISN'T a low end grunt motor.

my turbo makes full boost by about 3600rpm, and the response is instant if im anywhere over than and floor it. ive got a gt28r on a stock manifold with an otherwise stock CA.

That is a turbo that I haven't run. It should be similar to GT28R, but laggier, since it's a .86 AR on the turbine housing and I don't think it's a BB either. But it, ofcourse, flows more and will make more power in the top end.

i know this sounds like a noob question, but dont flame on me please, how do u run 10psi on a SR T25 turbo? do you mess with the ECU fuel or wat? or just putting a SR T25 makes you automatically run 10PSI?

To operate at higher boos levels, requires:

A: That the turbo is capable of producing that pressure (SR T25 is easily capable of 10 psi)

B: You have either a higher pressure wastegate actuator or a boost controller.

C: You have a proper amount of fuel (injectors, programming etc, depending on desired boost).

D: Your timing is adjusted properly (more of a safety to engine issue).

Also, sooner or later a larger intercooler becomes necessary
