Hey guys i need some info on what transfer case will work in my truck, its an 87 hard body, well the door tag says its an 86/1 but registers as an 87, obviously 4x4 with teh vg30. My transfer case finally went the other night and i cant seems to find any 4x4 hardbodys in any of the wreckers around here but there is tons of pathfinders in all years and was wondering if the transmission and Tcase would bolt up to my truck? and if so from what years? any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Eric

Any 86.5-2004 Tcase from a V6 truck or Xterra, and any '88-95 Pathfnider Tcase will bolt in. There are some differences in wiring harnesses and speedo sensors, but it's the same case, and they can be made to work.

4 banger trucks also used the same case, but with a lower spline count (22 vs. 30) on the input shaft.

D Rat knows his stuff.Any TX10 case will work. The pulse generator in 95 and up cases can be swapped with the cable pinion from your application.

Any case will work. There is a cosmetic difference on the AT cases - on the front, there's an oil sill around the input shaft to keep lubricant up there that doesn't exist on the MT version. They interchange without issue though, but if you had the auto, I'd look for another case from an auto. Either is fine for a manual.

Just be sure to get one from a V6 truck if you have a V6, as the input shaft spline counts differ between 4 banger and V6 trucks. (22 vs. 30).

Did I mention that already?

EDIT by Big-Bird:I think DR already answered this question above. Please avoid reposting the same questions to reduce clutter. Thanks!
