what to tak apart first?

ok just need to gt my lift and pull the motor. once its on the stand, in what order should i take things off so i can check my block? mainly manifolds,turbo what not

Before you put it on the stand, you might want to replace the rear main seal first. Much easier to get to it if its not on the stand.

Lets see.. if It was me.. I would start out by of course taking off all the bolt ons like manifolds, turbo, coolant lines, etc. until you have a long block.

Now take off the upper and lower oil pan off.

Pop your VC off and disassemble your head. Make sure everything goes back where it came from in the exact spot. Otherwise your tolerances will be off.

Take the head off.

Take the front cover off.

You should pretty much have a short block now.

Inspect.

Make sure you replace oil pump, HG, and ARP head studs if your head bolts are out of spec.

You can of course take off the oil pans off after the head. No spefic order. It is easier to take the front cover off with the head off and upper oil pan off.
