i will hopefully be doing an rb20 swap soon, in lieu of an sr20, and there is a pretty big cash difference in each front clip (i will be buying from venus) so i was planning on using the remaining cash to build up the motor. any suggestions?

UMM 82MM PISTONS, STRONGER RODS, AND A BETTER CAM (PROFILE IS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE TYPE OF DRIVING YOU ARE GOING TO BE DOING). YOU COULD PROBABLY GET 8700 RPM OUT OF IT SAFELY... OHH I FORGOT RB26 OIL PUMP.

forged pistons, rods, oil pump, and on the cams, if i was trying to make my motor rev higher, i would probably want to go with a shorter duration cam to put less stress on the valvesprings etc. ? anything else? (please mention things that you would think to be obvious, because im an idiot :))

WELL I DO THINGS THE EXPENSIVE/SAFE WAY SO I WOULD:1.) 82MM FORGED PISTONS AND SHOT-PEENED RODS2.) SLEEVE BLOCK3.) GTR OIL PUMP4.) A STOCK LIFT AND LONGER DURATION INTAKE CAM A HIGHER LIFT AND A LITTLE SHORTER THAN INTAKE DURATION EXHAUST CAM5.) GTR WATER PUMP6.) NISMO THERMOSTAT7.) METAL HEAD GASKET (1MM)8.) SUPER LIGHT FLYWHEEL9.) LIGHTEND MAIN HUB PULLEY10.) ADJUSTABLE CAM SPROCKETS11.) STRONGER TIMING BELT

THIS SHOULD BE ALMOST BULLET-PROOF AND REV HIGH. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO PORT AND POLISH THE HEAD, DO ATLEAST A THREE ANGLE VALVE JOB, AND REPLACE THE VALVE TRAIN WITH TITANIUM IF YOU WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY.

would it be necessary to sleeve an iron block? somone told me that this was only done on aluminum motors because iron is almost impossible to break (?).

LIKE I SAID I DO IT THE SAFE AND EXPENSIVE WAY. NO ITS NOT NECESSARY TO SLEEVE THE BLOCK BUT FOR PEACE OF MIND AND SAFETY TO THE BLOCK I WOULD RECOMMEND IT.

um for the higher rev dont you think stonger or double valve springs, stonger valves and retainers may be important. Trying the higher rev without these may not be pleaseant.

I said that at the end. It is important but you can get away with it.
