Ok, so I just went out and bought a bunch of stuff from radio shack to make the magnetic kill switch described here:http://www.autospeed.com/cms/a...9&P=1

and Im wondering what to have the switch affect, and also where I can find the magnetic reed switch.

Wire it into the +12V going to the fuel pump.

Ummm... electronics store for the reed switch I think? Ask the guy at the desk if they have them, if not, they might at least know where to get them. I'm about to do this same setup myself, so that's where I'm going to look first.

If you want to be extra safe, kill the ignition and fuel pump.

Check the FSM. You should be able to splice a switch betweenany ignition wire.

If you do fuel pump alone, the person might just sit there andcrank the hell out of your engine.

Yes, but if someone's been in your car, the last thing you're gonna worry about is if the battery is still charged. And I don't see how it would kill the starter...

Think about it, the starter is a mechanical thing as well, and if some moron was over running the piss out of it, you'd think it would give (especially on a 14 year old car)

Nah, I don't think it would give, unless the robber didn't wait for the motor to stop turning before turning the key again. Most early 90s 240s don't have their stock starters anyways, and hell, I've cranked mine for thirty seconds at a time a number of times, and it hasn't given up on me since I've had the car.

That really is a good idea. Most thieves aren't smart enough to figure out the wiring in time for somebody to see them.

This should help anyone figure out what wires to tap into for the kill switch.

I have been searching for a place to download the manual for the SOHC for years it seems. I always find it after it's been taken down. Thanks a million Gonad.

Ummm, I just downloaded that FSM for the SOHC and my search continues. THE ONE LABELED 89-90 IS ACTUALLY THE EUROPEAN/ AUSTRALIA MODEL 200SX. I am starting to think that no one actually has the 89-90 manual on line at all.

Do you know if there is that much of a difference in parts and descriptions for the 89-90 manual? It seems pretty on target, and considering that it is labled s13 series it would make sense that they are pretty much interchangeable when it comes to engine stuff. Maybe Im horribly wrong I just dont know...

S13 chassis and most parts are the same. Its the engine thats different. So as long as you're just looking for electrical/mechanical diagrams for the car itself you should be straight.

Actually, I think nico needs to start hosting those elusive FSMs, and just make a sticky for them.
