New here. I have a 90 Q45 and the trans has finally went out. Car has 280K and I am looking to dispose of it. I am in the early stages of building a 63 Nova and have contemplated using this car to assist in the build. I am stiull not sure about what I should keep to assist in the build if I decise to go that route. I am lokking to pull the motor, ecu, harness and rearend to place in storage. I have contemplated the gas tank. Looking for your input as the experts as I do not know much about these motors other than they seem to be the prequel to the LS series motors from chevy.

How many of you feel this would be a good way to go :ohno: ? With the milage should i look at other options? Car starts and runs with a PS squeel. What do youy think a rebuild will run?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Michael

Trying to use parts off the Q for your nova build would be as challenging as using record player parts in a CD player.Push the old Q into a nearby lake and start fresh with the nova- luckily there are tons of high power crate engines available for the chevy at reasonable prices, both big and small block with tons and tons of "go fast" parts to choose from- sounds like a fun project to start considering how available parts {even body parts} are still produced for these old GM vehicles.

i would agree with that. There are so many parts for the Chevy and the Q would be of no help. You can esssentially find a small block chevy in a brand new crate engine or find one and build it up yourself. Sure it is a pushrod design, but for horsepower and torque you cannot ask for more.

Junk the Q, figure out your budget and how much horsepower you want and go fresh on the chevy.

I would hang onto the stuff like you said.. If nothing else the parts would be useful to someone else..

How is the body and interior? I made a nice chair out of a back seat of the Q.. :)
