Disclaimer: I have been hunting around the forums preparing for the swap. I have pieced together what i wrote below from searching.

Here is the deal. Please forgive the noobness.Time frame: 5 days of thanksgiving weekPlan: fully remove ka (80% done) Place CA in.

More info: the CA is a rebuilt motorset i bough 1 year ago, has transmission, ps pump, rebuilt alternator, rebuilt water pump, and 440 injectors already bolted on ready to go. Have t28bb, exhaust manni, turbo outlet, and dp still in boxes. Also have chipped ecu/modified wiring harness. Mind you I have no plans to get the engine running at this point. That will hopefully take place xmas.

I will be ordering the following today or tomorrow: CA motor mounts (http://www.performancenissanparts.com/) turbo oil/water lines (takamotorsports) vacuum lines/heater hoses/coolant hoses (local auto store) exhaust manifold gasket & turbo gasket (?? truboost, local auto, or if anyone is selling them here.) Walboro fuel pump (truboost)

My thoughts:I know the turbo, turbo water/oil lines, manni/dp should be bolted onto the block before installing. I was also going to put the heater hoses, the vacuum lines on.

Question: What else do i need to buy/install before I drop the engine in? Are there any gauges or gauge hoses/sensor lines that would be to my benefit to install while engine is out? And finally is there anything I am forgetting?

Thanks,

BJ

you'll need some fuel management if your chipped ecu isn't meant for 440 injectors.

greddy e-manage or an s-afc would work.

He said he's got a chipped ECU already.

Kuruma; You sound like you're really done your research. The only thing you might want to check is the flywheel and clutch assy. Also, does it have new spark plugs in it? If you're re-using your radiator, you might want to flush it out well.

Good luck and keep us updated!

I seemed to have left out the fact that the transmission has a new dual force clutch, and the flywheel has been resurfaced.

The plugs will be purchased with the fmic when the time comes.I will be buying an s13 koyo aluminum rad from tru boost (they are about 10-15 min from where my car is).

The chipped ecu is programmed for a t04 turbo at 14psi iirc, and 440 injectors. I have a programmer, and do plan on learning how to tune myself since i am more electronically inclined than mechanically... but all that is far far away.

God it is so nice to have a "n00b" that has done his research! It seems that you have all your little ducks in a row. Now, get her in there and shoot us some pics!!

cant beleive it hasnt been mentioned, i can not stress enough a new oil pump. i put motor in and 3 weeks later had it out to do this. it is a pain to remove the sprocket and a bit of work but its the best thing you could do. $97 from http://www.everythingnissan.com its legit OEM, id order now because its usaully back ordered. you may think you wanna take ur chances, but oil pump is one of the only things that you usually take the motor out to install it, and I know you dont wanna risk that for a $97 part.

oil pump? are you serious? thats not a common replacement item! you're the first person I can think of who's had an actual oil pump failure... In my opinion its not something that should be replaced with a light rebuild like this guy is doing. He's not even opening it up to do a headgasket, why the heck would he replace the oil pump?

I've got to agree with Sean on this one. The only reason that I replaced my oil pump was becasue it was a COMPLETE tear down and rebuild. For a simple "freshing up" I see no sense it. As long as the motor doesn't have a lot of miles on it, Nissan oil pump failures aren't very common.

The only thing I am not sure about being rebuilt is the oil pump. I have taken off the head and looked inside, and everything has been taken care of, as the seller claimed. The cylinders have been rehoned, there is a metal head gasket, all new gaskets, ca16 cams... This thing went through a FULL rebuild, and not 1 mile on it yet. If i have extra time I will take off the transmission anyway just for piece of mind.

The point of my question was because it was a motorset and not a full swap so some of the common things as fuel lines, vaclines, stock smic motor mounts... etc were not included.

Sorry if i was not clear.

[edit] I was going to put the engine in, and get it runnin. If there were any serious problems issues It was gonna be pulled for chassis painting anyway, so It would have been taken care of there. I know its reduntant, but repetition es motter. [/edit]
