Yep. So it's that time of year. Yaknow, Christmas? The threads are already flying on Gen here. But, I have a question. What to get?

Right, so if you total out the monies I've recieved for Christmas here, you get a nudge over $400.

Yummy.

However, since I learned that I'd get about that much, I've been pondering (as Mike- 240kid and Jeff- JDMFreak know) what to do with it, seeing as The Beast is calling my name from the garage.

So, here's what I've looked at:

1. The obvious- Save it for suspension (suspension, in total, will run about $750... I'm a couple hundred short, and I work as a lifeguard, so within 4 weeks of summer I'd be all set, maybe even just 2)

2. Header - Alright, the SR20DE isn't one to have much power, and I'm quite annoyed with pulling out of my neighborhood and nearly dying (there's a BIG curve right by the entrance)... some extra ponies would be nice, and a Hotshot can be had for about $350

3. Pulleys - Once again, power, just from a different place. This is a more intensive install, but it's also cheaper, coming it at something more like $250, leaving money to save for suspension or get something else or whatever.

4. Start suspension now - I could go ahead and get the springs and put them in my room as a reminder of what to save my chips for, OR I could go ahead and get a rear sway and/or stiffer front strut, or some other bar, etc.

5. Dress up a little bit - My car is begging for a SE-R style grille (no badge, of course ) and black-housing headlights... someday... and normally I'm a fan of go before anything else, but it can all be had for $300ish, leaving cash for, once again, something else, probably for the continued existence of my bank account.

6. Something else?

Anyways, for those who don't know/remember, my Sentra (SE, 5spd) currently runs an Injen intake, BRM exhaust, and B&M short shifter. Performance Package = front strut bar, VLSD, 16" wheels, stiffened suspension (is actually reportedly -according to spring rates- stiffer than the SE-R suspension, probably somewhere between the base SE-R and Spec V)...

Sorry for the long post. I'm sure there are others in this kickin' cash-to-spare situation. Feel free to post your own "what to get" thingies too.

Make that a turbo header ... Then you'll be reminded of what to save up for...

I'd go with the Hotshot header since you've already got the exhaust and the intake. Let that baby breath!

You can use the extra $$$ to go for that crank pulley and then follow up with an ECU from JWT (if they make one for your car). That will take care of the easy power mods.

It sounds like your car has the suspension stuff pretty much sorted out as it is.

Going against conventional wisdom, I'd finish the power mods and then do the suspension stuff. You save the "show" for last.

Well with the header you still get choked out by the cat so if you are gonna run a header you may want to look into a high flow cat as well. just a thought. I vote header.

Well, lemme explain the future plans a little bit to sort out some of all that.

2 options, bit I'm leaning towards the first HEAVILY now because of cash

1. Power/transmission:Intake (done), Exhaust (done), Short Shifter (done) ... HS Header, high-flow cat, JWT S3 cams, UR Pulleys, street clutch, lightweight flywheel, Energy motor mounts ......... Yummy

Suspension/Grip:Koni Yellows w/ H&R (probably) springs, rear sway, stiffer front strut, front sway ... Yummy BBS goodness at all 4 corners with some good street rubber, keeping my stock rims with some Falken Azenzis or the like for AutoX/track adventures

Then some prettyfication, but only a little...

2. Engine (transmission and suspension/grip would be the same)J-Spec GTI-R exhaust mani, high-flow cat, small turbo (something like a GT25), small FMIC, UR Pulleys, Energy motor mounts

Yeah, as you can probably figure, I'm looking for ~200whp (yes, in the front, shut up).... with boost, I could look at having a bit more, but at higher cost... with the all-motor approach, I would have probably slightly less, and have to rev the snot out of it (JWT ECU would be necessary in both cases with those mods I think, and either way some sort of A/F tuning will be in order)... much like I have to do now... but I'd get that cool rough idle AND get to scare the living piss out of local ricers, which I already can do to a point with just I/E.

But yeah, should be a fun track beast while I work on my project, but also livable (I'm not much one for luxury anyway) as a daily, especially when I dial down the Yellows to a softer setting, which requires only the turn of a knob...

The DE in N/a trim makes enough power to have fun with in the FWD cars. However being a B15 you might want to boost it simply because you have alot more car to move.

B13 > B15
